I was just sitting on the toilet and it hit me! All these human clones, infant twins raised by the wolves in India, me getting tired at work.. it all lead me to yet another excellent thought.

There is no good or bad (..as there is no high or low, hot or cold, fast or still etc. in the universe) but ill just focus on humans this time.
There are no good or bad humans. Any action or thought or any move by one person is totally affected by the surroundings. (first i thought 90% but then i thought even birth defects depend on things, and even birth itself depends whether 2 people come together or not)

Anyways!! All this poo aside and to the interesting part. Take you for example, you think that there is/no god. You think country music sucks/rocks. You think it's bad/good to kill people. No matter what a person thinks or does he isnt bad or good, he is just a by-product of its environment.

I dont think i have to explain further, but basically this thought doesnt change anything yet is interesting and godly.

PS: And did i mention this is a 100% proof that there is no god? lol, and i was on the toilet too when it came to me..

What you just said is the most completely obvious concept perpetuating society. That ability to choose our paths in life are what make us humans and not robotic, programmed drones.

But good thinkin', Captain Obvious!

Impaler, strata: don't mind me, i'm a genius :D

PS: thats the whole idea baby, you CANT choose anything, you just output according to input thats all.
Even your choices is a result of this or that information that you learned earlier.

PPS: pixel, what do you mean by robotic? Do you mean a robot acts according to simple definitions that were put into it? Then it makes humans - very advanced robots.

Shizo. Vodka good, philosophy bad. Vodka with philosophy on the other hand...

Anyhoo, if you don't know all the input, you can't predict all the output. Some of it, maybe, but not all. And that bit of perceived randomness makes life worth living.

Or something banal like that. Urk, gotta get sleep / stop replying random threads.

i was taking a leak couple of years ago (no, this is not a joke) and i was also struck with the most marvelous enlightment i've had had in a long time and it made me think in a different way about things.
today, however, i have absolutely no memory of what i had thought about back then and i have no idea either if what i had thought is actually now part of my way of thinking or not.

...of course, then you could say that I am stupid for wanting to kill people who I label as "stupid" and use my own words and say that I should be killed myself for being stupid from your perspective....uuuhhnng...

blah blah blah, these philosiphy threads never go anywhere anyways and usually just end up with people saying the jesus sucks and other people saying that he's great....

time to sleep!

I don't think it's an accurate view.

I think your condition is determined by your focus and choices in life. Anyone can achieve anything no matter the starting point. Just the proper focus is needed.

The good bad thing is also not something i completely agree with. Quality of something is determined by perspective from which it is looked upon.

A genuine, noble self-less person will be considered good by the people around him.

A deranged psychopath considers everything he does good for himself.

Two different perspectives. Both valid.

Also this doesn't prove that there is no god because you might not have a correct concept of what god is. I recommend reading Tao-Te-Ching as it starts off explaining this last point very well.

If you ignore the black part an Oreo is white.

And that fact alone proves that the manufacturer of Oreo's actually does not exist at all!

(what are you talking about man???)

Interesting topic.
Are there any "the best of different philophosis book for dummies" out there? ....no im actucally being serious here.
Thinking about human things like moral, decisions, egoistic and grippable things like that(not so much questions like do we exist, although some basics in that would be ok to), are there any well read being out there who cares to share their knowledge and experience with us not so well read beings?
Some tips about good web site/books would be cool.

The best part of it all is: nobody can be right, human or alien with brains weighting at 32T, because universe is infinite and anything is possible and exists forever etc.
Nifty eh?

Returner. You could try to read Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder. It's a novel where a girl explores the world of philosophy. It covers about any big Philosopher you can think of in a readable wasy.

Although I doubt it covers Shizo.

Isn't determinism based more on a concept operates more on a predetermined pattern, Travis? I think shizo is pushing some sort of watered-down egoist existentialist theory instead, that there is no objective value system, and that man is the highest good.

The universe doesn't exist for ever and ever, shizo. There's simply not enough energy and matter going around for us to see it.

My suggested reading list for you:
Universe in a Nutshell, Hawking.
All of Immanuel Kant's works, foo'.
