(Edit: Got some help translating, and added the translated version. Original Norwegian version found as links under the pages).
A little autobiographical stream-of-consciousness comic, drawn late sunday night.
Drawn from life, directly with ink, drawn and written simultaniously.
Lettering and framing done afterwards, half-digitally(Traced over digital outputs), because.... well.... I fucked up the original lettering, framing, and spelling. Comic-tones also placed digitally.

Although C&C is appreciated, this is a strictly personal past-time, and I considered it finished, so don't stress it. It's just to please my exhibitionism and show of my gold-darned good looks.

I'm ignorant American and can't even get an impression -- is it just abstract, poetic thought or was it more like comedy... ?
The style is completely awesome. I like it. Translation please, please! |

Thanks a lot, Little Bee.
Ummh.... If it's abstract, poetic, or comedic, then that's completly unintentional and accidental.
It's just words and pictures done late at night. I started it at half-past one, night to monday, after a little j or two, and finished at exactly 04.56 it seems, two shots of scotch later and many cigarettes later. So it's just some observations scribbled down during that time, coupled with the things around me that caught my eye.
I try to do these as often as I can... for no purpose really except to please myself.
Translation, you say?
Ok... that shouldn't be so hard as the language used is very basic.
Here goes(Comments in parentes):
Page 1.
1. - It's Glenfiddich.
2. - Just one glass(shot?).
4. - My hand sneaks constantly toward the glass.
5. One drawing. One sip. Not too much.
6. (Scribbled over):Cigars!! Cigarettes!!
Page 2.
1. - It's getting late. Pink sunrise.
2. - Long, empty discussions, and doubt, makes it hard to sleep.
3. - No, Kim!(That's me) Don't drop ash on Sbstads(A norwegian cartoonist) strips.
5. - Just one more glass...
6. - ... And maybe one when I'm done.
Done.
That's it.
And, yes... I had one more shot of Glenfiddich when I was done.
(By the way: It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me with my only two translation problems:
- Can you say a "Glass of whiskey", or does that just sound silly. Should I use the word "Shot" instead?
- In spoken Norwegian, you can say "To ash a cigarette", meanig to drop the ash of a cigarette. Does that make any sense in english?
All help greatly appreciated).

Funky. A good idea for an exersise. I like it.
As for translation:
Glass of whiskey is okay because some do drink a glass of it(on the rocks). but if it is a shot, then it would be better to be called a shot.
to ash a cigarette. um... no 'flick a cigarette' or 'flick the ash' would be better. |

Thanks a lot!
It was a shot of whiskey, not a glass of whiskey on the rocks, so I'll use shot most of the time. I'll have one sentence where I use the word glass, since the sentence was meant to be possible to interpret as both the shotglass and the window which you see the view in the picture through.
Anyhow, could someone please, pretty please, look over this final translation quickly before I hand-letter it?
ITS GLENFIDDICH
an autobiographical lie by kim holm
JUST ONE SHOT.
MY HAND'S SNEAKING CONSTANTLY TOWARDS THE GLASS.
ONE DRAWING.
ONE SIP. NOT TOO MUCH.
CIGARS!! CIGARETTES!!
IT'S STARTING TO GET LATE. PINK SUNRISE.
LONG, EMPTY DISCUSSIONS, AND DOUBT, MAKES IT HARD TO SLEEP.
NO, KIM! DON'T FLICK ASH ON SBSTADS CARTOONS!
JUST ONE MORE SHOT...
...AND MAYBE ONE WHEN I'M DONE.
DONE.
Scream out if you find any errors. And please whisper lightly if you don't. |

personaly i really don't like the term, "don't flick ash" because the word 'flick' implies intention. As in, you intentionally flicked the ash on the comic rather than accidently get it on there.
so i reckon, "no kim, don't get ash on ..."
your original translation seemed fine to me anyway. |
