Testing out new custom brushes at work, this is what appeared from the scribbles. Once I was nearly done, I took a peek at an actual photo to get the damn tongue right.
Not my usual kind of picture, but I've done a similar one before ;]
Sooo... what would your mood look like, today, if you drew it?

Seems like those brushes are working for you. Really nice image, colors and textures. My mind is so dull right now that the picture would be quite empty.. I hope others catch the bait though.

KITTIE !!! i love kitties ...
I really have nothing to critique about ...
its a lovely lovely piece ...
maybe the kittie's right eye is a bit too sunken, but i havent slept in more than 48 hours, so it might just be me ...
but i kitties ... this is an excellent painting of a beautiful kittie. |

wow - cool!
Punch up the highlights in the cat's eyes - make them sharper - it'll make it even more realistic ...
Rock on, Enyala! ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

looks mean did you happen to say Vet infront of her? Really though above the nose and below the nose, don't look like they line up to me. Could be a visual thing though.

Rhomb: Thanks =] It's fun just playing around in photoshop sometimes.
Awetopsy: =D
Basement bound: Hahah, yeah - the cat it's based on (one of my kitties) will get this look whenever she's the least bit displeased. You're probably right about the 'not lining up' part, though =] (but I can't figure out what it is that isn't lining up, from your post - the eyes?)
Andromeda: Yeah, I love kitties, too =] I'll see what I can do about the eye, later.
Loki: Ooh, yes, you're right baout the highlights. I'll try to fix that when I have the time to =] Thanks.
scylla: Heheh =)
J-Tee: Hahah, if you pay me for it *evil grin*
eyewoo: Thanks =)
stan522: I did this in adobe 6.0... brushes can be found here:
brushes
Little Bee: Thank you =] Maybe I should doodle more ;] |

Very nice! Cool texture. I like the new brushes. Do you do all your painting in Photoshop 6.0, no Painter? |

Enalya- this is what I mean. Looking at it perhaps it is the lower jaw that is funny.

Wow! I think it's beautiful.
No critiques. I love how it flows clockwise in a circle and how it's still balanced even though most of the information is in the upper right.
Nice work!

Jesus basement guy, we're talking about the angle of the cats jaw being off by like, a couple millimetres here. Thats called NIT PICKING. Nature IS asymmetrical, it doesn't often line up perfectly. |

I think that the jaw is quite like correctly put. It is possible to move jaws horisontally. Just try ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

I tried looking for it and I think I see what Basementbound is talking about. It isn't very apparent. I don't think it is the jaw not lining up though.
It think it just might be an illusion of asymetry about the cats eyes.
I don't really think making the eyes parallel to everything else would look right though. I think the eyes are fine. But if you cover the top half of the pic with your hand so that only the nose and mouth are showing, and then imagine where the skull is pointing as if it had a laser pointer attached to it, and then cover the mouth so that the nose and top portion of the pic is showing and imagine where the skull is pointing, there might appear to be a degree of difference.
But the skin and muscles of the cat's eye lids and mouth can move differen't on either side, just as we are able to wink or make any number or strange facial contortions.
It's an excellent picture, technically and visually. I wouldn't change a thing.

If I were to look at it, sans rulers and guides, I'd say that the eyes look like they're turning towards the right of the image slightly, and that the nose and mouth are tilting to the left slightly. But, I'm no professional, so I have no idea what I'm talking about . Nice image, Enayla, as always. |

i think cats can move their jaws sideways too? like humans and dogs, for example when yawning... Or hissing I don't think it really affects the overall quality of the picture. nice work. |

whoooooooohhh, read my first post I never said anything about it being WRONG. I just said that is looks kinda wierd to me. It is a great pict. otherwise. Just trying to be helpful. Thank you to those who gave my thought a chance and corrected it. I am not always right.
ROB/SEAV- I don't think you have been here long enough to flap your mouth off like that. it is not perfection, just improvement. If you take crits like this about other peoples work, I don't think that people in the future will spend much time with you.

Such a ruckus about my little picture. Heeheh, thanks people. For crits and comments both.
I'm not going to change anything about it, though - mostly because it's just a doodle... but also because I think, sometimes, that sitting around trying to make something perfect just ruins it.
Symmetry isn't always how you measure a good picture. I think that if I fixed the jaw, and the eyes, and every other mistake I've made [I always make tons of mistakes in my pictures] the entire thing will become dull and lifeless. Sometimes, the mistakes are what makes it interesting, you know?
The world isn't perfect after all. My work most certainly isn't ;] But I honestly can't bring myself to scribble more on this one, I think I'll just kill the spontaneous feel of it, which is what I like about this one.
Again, thanks a lot - will keep it in mind for the next time I draw kitties =] |
