Weeeell... here I am. I guess most people interested in my stuff have already seen this over at EK ;] I'll post this here anyway though.
This is a vampire clich. All vampires must be goth, eh? It's also another of my androgynous characters, just so you know. Partly made for a thread with clich art, there's also a story behind it. (following after picture)
Telynohn here was one of the original vampires of Aii Chriaston. Cruel and blood thirsty, and with an entire kingdom to torment with whatever games he liked to play with mortals. Eventually, though, it all had to end - as things must, and one individual was sent to fool him.
It was someone he would fall for. Someone picked specifically to fit Telynohn's tastes. And he did fall - but the other had to fall for him as well. You see, the vampires -know- how you feel. There is no tricking them. In the end, the one that Telynohn loved, loved him back... but even so ended up betraying him, and trapping him in a chamber for the next three hundred years. Saving the kingdom from his cruelty, and thus betraying two hearts in the process.
Aaaah... 'tis a somewhat quick picture by the way. I've recently (last week) had eye surgery (the laser kind, you know?) so I can't spend a whole lot of time in front of the computer =( |

that's very nice. To my taste, the lips could be a bit less fuller, and some of the jewellery and the flower could go... But it's just my taste Now he looks maybe a bit too girlish, even for the androgynous vampire cliche. But I guess all of us have our own image of vampires... Nice job with it. |

Beautiful, digging the figure closeup, lets you see all the detail and preserves a powerful presence. Also liking the subject matter (fu fu fu, inner goth speaking =[: ). Really love the finished look of your pieces.
Enough fanboy rambling for now.

I really like your works...some more interesting positions for your characters could be something to think about though.
How do you manage to get such control on gender?...i mean, it's an effeminate man, but it's still a man and this is noticable. What are the basic facial features that set male/femal apart? I'm asking you because i notice you have quite a grasp on this. |

i think the body structure's got some influence... But about the face, I'd say that it's mainly the cheekbones and the chin that make him look male? At least to me they do... But I'm sure the artist can reply to that one better ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Sweet! yeah what Novacapt asked, I was wondering too.
The story's quite cool, are you also going to paint a portrait for his sweetheart? |

That's very powerful! I love the way the swirling hair becomes almost a graphic element. Can I suggest doing the same sort of pattern with the cloak to tie it all together? Really great work ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Asurfael: Thank you =] This is one of the things I really like about art. Its arbitrary. I like to believe that if I wanted to signify gender through one gender having a dimple in the forehead and the other not, I could. Because its not reality. I choose to draw my males in a feminine manner because it fascinates me =] Its fully understandable that some people wont like that.
vegetaONAC: Thankee I know the background looks a little rushed but I kind of wanted to keep it simple. Wasnt sure whether it worked or not.
Kig: Aw, thank you =]
Novacaptain: Im working towards more interesting poses I think its the greatest weakness in my works and its something Ill have to battle in time. Ill see if I ever get there.
And thank you about the gender bit. Gender fascinates me perhaps mostly so, at this point, because I get to see just HOW pissed off someone can be because they find a face attractive, only to find out that its supposed to depict the wrong gender. Most men have something feminine to their faces. Maybe very big eyes with long eyelashes of very, very full lips. Perhaps feminine cheekbones, or arched eyebrows. But usually just -one- of these features in one face. What I do, is to add a lot of feminine features to a face, and see if I can still retain a shred of the male character underneath.
Its mostly the line going down the cheek towards the jaw, and around the jaw. This area is generally more rounded on a girl. The noses of the males I draw are often a little longer, and the chin itself differently shaped. The eyebrows a shade lower (unless theyre very arched), and then theres the body shape.
Someone whos looked at my work for some time can usually tell the girls and the boys apart. I guess the gender-rules in my pictures are a little bent and twisted ;] Long response, thiseheh *stops before she rambles on forever*
Hunago: Thank you =] Check my overly long reply to Novacaptain ;] I -might- draw a portrait of the other character if I get around to writing the story.
Visual myriad: Mm that sounds like a splendid idea. Thank you =] |

Enayla, actually I do like feminine men... I just tend to have my own obsessions about how they should look. Maybe I should draw one? Or maybe not Anyhow, I do love that vampire of yours... He's very cute. Ok maybe that's not the right word but you get the point anyhow, I hope. |

Technically every single one of your works is a masterpiece. I can't help it, but my mouth drops everytime I see one of your pieces. "How in gods name did you do that!?"
Is the question that always races around in my mind.
On a negative note, I feel your composition is weak. There is nothing to make me want to look at your piece more than once after the "shock factor".
Something really dynamic needs to be thrown in the mix. Colors, poses, subject matter...
Anyhow... I don't want to come off sounded like an ass. I just wanted to try and help. |

The Magic Pen: Hahahah, thanks - but the people I fall for in real life are wonderful, sweet, interesting people. Looks haven't got that much to do with it. Besides, I don't think there's a whole lot of guys looking like this in real life.
Asurfael: Ooh, yesh, please draw one =D
Novacaptain: Heeh, I promise I will =] You'll get a good laugh ;}
Jucas: Thank you =] I'm not the least bit insulted: I'm well aware of my lacking compositions. I promise I'll try for something more interesting next time =] (it's just that I tend to have little time for fun drawings these days =( Not trying to excuse my failings, just whining in general) |

Love the painting, great color, and the design of the hair is very cool. It looks like you used a female face for reference, the face is too rounded and lips are too large to even look like an androginous male. That's my two cents- keep up the great work. |

It looks male to me...but maybe it's close enough to get some people confused...like [666]flat for instance. |
