quick sketch i did in painter7. great program, but i'll never understand it all. i drew it up and moved it over to photoshop cuz it has more image saving options. so anyways, when i clicked on png, it was on two colors and it came out with the second image, and i thought it looked pretty cool.
anyways. crits?

Very nice, well, actually mean looking face. I like the style. I prefer the second one to the first. The blue outline doesn't work with the colors IMO.

Yeah, I rarely do any actual image editing in Painter, either; it has a tendency to blur everything out, even when you are just resizing images (it can't even handle the durn free-transform tool... -_-; ). I always end up having to constantly switch between Painter and Photoshop...
Anyway, I agree, this turned out really cool. :3 Great job on the form of the face, and on all the shadows. The expression is great, though I almost feel is eyebrow ridge is a little too low on the face, and that you should be able to see just a little bit more of his eyes. I also agree about the blue outline; it's too stark a contrast. A red or brown would look really nice, but if you don't want to change the color, then maybe desaturate and darken it a little, at least. That two-color PNG version is pretty slick, too. It reminds me of an intro scene from an old Gameboy game.
Great job!

thanks all for the kind words.
the image was drawn in blue on the canvas, and then the colors were multiplied on a separate layer. that's why the right side is darker. i like the way that worked out, and i don't think i'll change it. the eyebrows have been caricatured to give it a deeper ominous feeling.
here's a new sketch i just did.

I like them both, however the second one sure does look alot darker/meaner.
