Hmmm, I found when trying to post more images in my other thread that the maximum is 8 images, so I'm forced to start a new thread! Anyway, here's a couple more studies from reference:
Veronica Lake:
Adriana:
Cary Grant:
A vampire chick:
Posterised self-potrait:
Just wanted to post a bit more Red Giant stuff if I may. Here's a teaser that I'm playing around with:
In terms of concept design, there is a whole sequence in the story that takes place in an underground dwelling, called Lithosphere Industries. The characters wear special pressure suits, so thought I'd show some of that work:
I've been using the same approach for the environments:
Oh yeah, if anyone's interested in reading a few pages from the script to get an idea what this things about, you can download a 4-page script sample HERE.
Let me know what you think! |

Your work is excellent, you have a good eye for colour.
Your ideas show you to be a very creative person, and I'll be looking forward to seeing more of Red Giant, I do remember hearing about that way back.
Keep it up |

EDIT: Dammit I feel like an idiot. I didn't check your other post where you had already replied to my questions.
Anyway, these pics are awesome, keep posting!

Daniel talk about a flurry of pics. Stunning as usual, talk about life in the sketching and with the colour. The RED GIANT, I have been waiting for some of this to creep up. I remembers some posts from about a year or so ago(some very large panaramic landscapes), is this the same project that was in progress from then? I am so excited.
note to self: stop it you are 25 and you're sounding like a 14 giddy school girl.

Thanks so much for the feedback (not forgetting about my post this time):
Germ01: Glad you liked--yes, the confidence is slowwwly coming, but still need to make the tough choices with less mucking around. Thanks for the kind words!
Unit: Thanks so much--and really glad to hear you remember Red Giant. It's been slow going (see my response to Jason below) but it'll get there in the end (hopefully). Darn real life. Might get you to do a review of some of the stuff, if that's ok? It's always good to get a pair of fresh eyes...
JasonN: Thanks--as per my email...
BB: Jason-long time no hear! How is it all going? Yes, it is the same project that I posted about waaaaaay back when. I had an allotted period that I had budgeted to work fulltime on it, but spent so much time on the script, that I ran out of money and had to resum my contracting work. Oh well, I think it's time well spent to get the story correct as everything hinges on that. Besides that, I was in discussions with one of the major comic publishers, but we didn't see quite eye to eye on it in terms of the final printed format. I really want to do a landscape oriented book (sort of like the hardcover edition of Frank Miller's 300, but they were thinking 22-page standard pamphlet. What's funny is that Marvel ended up bringing out the X-Men Annual in Marvelscope which was a landscape oriented format! Anyway, it's your excitement that gets me pumped to work harder and finish it...
Pixelsoldier: Wow, thanks so much. Currently putting it all together, will notify you when it's ready ok? |

Daniel- alive and kicking. I have learned a few lessons here and there. But, for the most part I have been working to post stuff here, at the drawing board(vigourian) and at Somk's fignut forum(sculpture/modeling). After I finished the Education degree, I drifted from art work and I was so happy to find a place like this it inspired me get get back on the horse. I am applying to Art school for January, and working on the dreaded portfolio. The problem is that I like too many things and can not settle on one thing to go study.*hump*
And hey, at least look at it this way. You are doing something you love, maybe not the stuff you want to be doing(like your own projects). I understand that it is hard to find a agreement with major companies, my cousin is at the begining of the same process with DC. And it is funny because I thought of your landscapes when I saw the X-men Annual. Rock on Mate

Hey Visual, You're doing something I dream of doing one day, if it's going slowly, it's still going and that's damn good.
I'd be more than happy to review some of the stuff. |
