Modelled in 3dsmax, 1024x1024 texture (which I accidently switched to 512 and saved. Wrong button @:-p) I wouldn't mind doing a more realistic texture, as the texture was reference from a toy. Crits welcomed. |

i think the model looks good- although lacking some detail around the eyes, mouth and gills area.
the textures are quite bland and unrealistic. use photo reference (there are tons of fish on the web, just run a search), and if you can find a good enough photo- use it as a basis for your texture. don't forget using bumpmaps for scales and other details such as small wrinkles in the skin. use opacity maps for the fins and tail- the top being semi-transparent/translucent.
all in all, a good start- but it needs some more work to take it to the next level. |

Thanks for the crit Bilbo. This is my 3rd surface tools model, apart from the 3dsmax tutorial and a failed head, so am still getting the hang of it. The texture is bland, I know. It's referenced from the toy, as I said, and will be looking for references to make a more realistic skin, as well as opacity and bump maps. |
