Oh... I really like this one.

It has a lot of personality, and as they say in Pulp Fiction; Personality goes a long way.

The thin pencil lines are beautifully understated. They shape the body even where they're absent. Makes you believe they're still there.
The black spots really tie the figure together, the way you've placed them in a little arch around the edge of the figure. That one little under the cheek really separates the head from the body, and makes the whole figure look 3D.
The greys?.... well... they're grey... and great... and grey... They could easily have interferred with rest of the drawing, but I don't think they do. They're just there.

My only critique would be that your girlfriend looks mighty bored. But that may very well be how she looks for all I know. After all, you must've used some time on this drawing, and, well... even five minutes of sitting modell can seem like an eternity. Still, a little more life, just a smirk of life, would perhaps make it more compelling to look at.

This is in no way any problem, and is just my very personal opinion.

Anyhow... wow... really... wow...

I've changed a couple of things since i posted it. Will post a new version soon. Just want some more feedback before i scan it again. I just took a photo of her and
drew it. I see your point of picking out a greater shot, but sadly i don't have many
photos to choose from. A passport-photo would have been even more boring, if you see my point.
I dunno, maybe i used 45 minutes. Mostly focusing on her face trying to get her look right first.

I have to admit I don't really see exactly what you changed in the first picture. I suspect it's something with the faces(The eyes?) but I can't put my finger on it.
Maybe she does look a little more relaxed instead of bored... or maybe I'm hallucinating... It's looks absolutly marvelous anyhow. Don't change a thing.

It's shot you've chosen(Or at least how you rendered it) is very down to earth. And down to earth can be a jolly good thing. Forget all I said about giving it more life.

Now the self-portrait... heheh... Well it certainly has life. Great expression. A lot rougher. The mouth is great, and those thin lines that just barely define the chest\shoulder area.
It's such great fun making weird expressions in front of the mirror, isn't it?

You didn't need to almost beg people to make fun of your hair. You could have just told them that it's the latest fashion in Norway...

...(And scarily enough it's almost true)...

Great stuff.

Dunno how long time it took to do the other one, did'nt take the time. Maybe a couple of minutes...3-4 maybe.

Might be hard to see, but i did fix some of the edges, lines and some of the shadows. Also tried to fix the eyes, but still i'm not quite satisfied..Will look into it.
Do you have a website btw? The picture in your profile looks good! I wanna see more of your work.

Uhhmm... I don't have any website yet, but I'm working on one with a designer friend of mine(Which, at our current pace looks like it'll be finished in the year 2077).

But, I have a... ehmm... temporary portofolio which is a rather quickly assembled collection of the best of the last five years of amature work, and those few paying jobs I've had.

It's actually only a Yahoo!Photos thingie... I think I need to get myself a little less temporary portofolio...

You probably haven't heard of me before because... ummh... there's nothing much to hear about?
I'm really just starting out. I worked as a nanny(Male-nanny?) for 2 years, and have just started to try and make some money out of drawing. Have been a little too interested in drawing and relaxing, and not so keen on self-promoting, so you can say it's going a bit slow(I've only been out of work for 2 months though, so it's not getting critical yet).

Before that I selfpublished some gawd-awfull vampire comics called "Mens Gud Sover" when I was 15-16 years old. And I had two episodes of a thing called "Grut" and a autobiographical lie published in the lousy underground fanzine "Pokus"#1-3(I think) a couple of years ago. I think they still may have some of both on Tronsmo, to my dismay.

I'm planning to start sending things in to "Smult", and probably some other magazines, but the problem is that apparently I haven't got a single funny bone in my body, so I need others to write for me as long as it's humor.
But, it will all work out in the end... always has before
