hello again! finally got around to finishing this Bastich.. some of you may remember when i posted the head a while back..
i put this guy off for too long so i just hammered it out and called it done.. not completely happy with it,, but its DONE and thats something to be proud of i guess.

id really love to hear some honest feedback on it,, like what imidiately jumps out at you?? or what looks wrong, and what works?
and feel free to tear it appart,, i can take it... just dont call me names,, like "fart biter" or "terd wrangler"..

thank you.

who wants to make out with mongo? BaaaBY,, RuuTH!

Now there's a hottie. I say you sign him.. her.. uuh it up for some reality dating show, like the Fifth Wheel or Dismissed. I'm sure the guys or girls will love it's sweet and genuine personality. I can already see how photogenic he is,and all with that winning smile.

Ahh, great to see it finished. Nicely done too, although the monochromatic nature of each individual section is less effective to me than it might be. I'd like to see more interesting variation and sharing of colors.

holy shit that's gross. If it were all as interesting as the face and hands it would be great. when I loose intrest in an image it's usually because I've rendered too much too fast, or because the subject is boring. if this guy had a setting and purpose you may have givin him a little more lovin'. if that doesn't make since, im sorry. im drunk.

What Suma said.
Also I find the black collar to be a bit weird. It loos like a piece of leather with heavy iron suspenders, anyways the shoulder part of that collar looks twisted.
You shading technique is very, very good, but it seems like you should get into colour more.....(like myself )

I guess that's it.

I,ve been following this one, NICE job mate!!

Oh dear Lord!

THAT'S DISGUSTING!

The only thing that could make it even more disgusting is a little more contrast. It seems a bit matt.
Now excuse me while I go and get re-aquainted with my dinner.

nice.

what could you add? hmm...
maybe some strange random details or color variations. maybe if you jump out of your swatches and rock some more saturated purples or some spots of vivids. just to add interest. It's a strech because it really does look god, but if you dropped a patch of something in there it might push it forward a little.

put a rubber duck on his shoulder...

i mean, honestly it's probably perfect as is.

&

i like the flesh and spec rendering.

Hey! Thanks for the valuable crits and complaments everyone! i pretty much totally agree with everyones feedback. i am still very new to color, and this guy was mostly exploration. ive been a pencil guy for the large portion of my life. thats all most of my companys i have worked for required.
im trying to branch out more towards the illustration end of design and whatnot.
i honestly could redo the entire thing but id rather just chalk this up as a learning experiance and move on.. this is the main reasin i wanted honest feedback.. hopefully i will carry all that i have learned into my next piece and so on... but right now im exparimenting with rendering in black and white only.. im deffinately getting a better feel for value this way.. practice practice practice...

Thanks again everyone!

sorry i took so long to reply... been busy..

Wow, Binke, that looks amazing. A little color variation and contrast will make this style even more incredible.

Hey Binke! no i dont mind at all.. i think its great.
i really like the color variation around the face and hands.. that deffinately works.. it does look a little too contrastified to me, and the piece as a whole kinda looks like a photo that has been left out in the sun.. but i do totally see what you mean, and when i look at this next to the origional,, mine looks very flat. i also think the colors look a little too uniform for my personal taste,, but i think the colors in the origional were distracting.. so theres got to be a balance somewhere..
i love the grey stubbly color around the mouth,,, kinda makes him look like Homer Simpson.. Hah! he does have a kinda simpsons mouth. like when Barney bealches..

thanks a lot for the paintover.. much appreciated, and very helpfull..

Heeeh, though I don't really post here that much anymore, I really do have to comment on this one.

Love it. I really like the monchromity in the first picture, actually - the colouring is so calm and gentle in contrast to the subject matter. (It looks almost like the kind of colours you would've used for a pretty girl, but instead it's this ghastly thing)

On the other hand, the added contrast in the edit is great... but perhaps too much? I'd like to see something in between, actually =] A little more contrast, but not THAT much.

It is possible that my gamma on my monitor is fucked, so it may look very contrasty on your monitors. Looks kind of ok over here, but my monitor sucks so there you have it.

But its probably true it could use less contrast on mine.
