The guys at tiles.ice.org are still churning out collaborative artwork. This time we have created a tribute to Salvador Dali. I hope you guys like it and come help us out on a quilt or two.

that's kinda the point... not just one person worked on this. lots of people did. Everyone gets a square and adds on to the people's square next to theres. I love it.

that's fresh.

i understand the point that it's too busy; it is very busy.

most of the images i see on the net aren't busy enough, so it's nice to see the contrasting piece. as a tribute collage, that is successful in my humble opinion.

This is awesome! And looks like it was super fun too! Roughly how many people would have worked on this?

I should probably mention how our collaborative artwork comes to be since I haven't posted in a while.

Tiles.ice.org is iCE's answer to the old-fashioned quilt party, minus the gathering of elderly women. It's a unique opportunity for collaberative artwork on the net. A huge image, composed of individual 'tiles' is created, one piece at a time. The goal when making a tile is to mesh your work as smoothly as possible with the surrounding tiles, while creating something cool, artistic, and if applicable, on-topic.

The challenge and the fun behind tiles.ice.org is that you never fully see your neighbouring tiles until they're all finished. Around your tile, there will be a 16-pixel strip of any surrounding images, so that you can blend yours into the mosaic. Your tile won't show up in the quilt until all tiles surrounding it are complete. This ensures that whoever draws the tile next to you will have a surprise.

oops. We used an 8 pixel strip on this one, not a 16 as mentioned in the last post. That makes it a lot more difficult.
