well, i think she's a little hotter than sloth. you need some hard edges in this painting, everything has a slightly "out of focus" feel. despite all of her problems, i'd still do her.

Hey Sovok

You did a nice job with some of the details and the basic proportions.

When copying a photograph, however, I believe it's more important to capture the overall essence of the original image rather than the minor details. (Or at least focus on the small details only after the global essence has been captured).

Try squinting when you look at the photo and pick out the major tone/shadow changes in the image. Pretend that you're being forced to paint with only a very large brush. How would you maintain the integrity of the original image if you weren't allowed to pay any attention to the small details? (at least not at first) Where are the major shadow areas? Which overall tonal changes are most important to "inform the forms"?

For instance, when I squint at the photo, I see that her entire left shoulder area and chest area are a lot darker than her right shoulder skin tone. You, on the other hand, simply have a dark spot under her chin. Notice how the exposed skin of her left leg (knee area) is darker than her right leg.
Try to capture the overall tonal changes before honing in on the details.

Also, by squinting, you can see which details really stand out. Like the thin, white highlight on the brim of her hat (camera-right side), which really helps to indicate the form. The thin, sharp shadow under her left forearm (separating it from the legs). Etc.
Try to pick out the really important details that help to capture the integrity of the original image.

One more thing: You might want to pay a little more attention to which edges are sharp and which edges are soft. Perhaps the airbrush is not the right tool for every line.

It's looking pretty good.
Step back and look at some of the overall, larger painterly issues and then get back to the details afterwards.

Keep up the good work.

I wanted to apologise for my earlier comment (I think I got carried away after slating Flat).

Your image: Add a soft background colour so that her skirt is separated and correct the right eye. It should look good with these few alterations.
