A quick paint sketch I did part of a set of conceptual images I drew up for an apocalyptic type game my friends and I are working on..
larger image
C&C is definately wanted, but please remember, this is more of a speedy painting than a full-fledged one

you guys gotta work on yur character.. no offense but a detective with a staff that has two burning ends kinda...sux.
the rest of the pic looks good considering that it is speedy. Put some lights on those buildings....and some in teh sky aswell....your city looks deserted.
and what is he standing in?... it looks like a pose that is showing that he's ready to face the city.
and damn that staff is bothering me....get rid of it and his hat....sorry
it would help if you told me what the game is about..and so on |

Surely.
Not..quite..a..detective..ahem..
It's supposed to be like some vile creature who dresses completely cloaked up, in trench coat and long hat (ever see Jeepers Creepers? --> Like that).
The staff is supposed to be a weapon but since I didn't want to rip off Star Wars by having a "dual-light-saber" look, I just added glowing balls to the end.. eh.
And anyway, in the game, he stand there and suddenly rushes and jumps out of the hole, flying down thousands of feet. |

Since this is a speedy image I wont crit too much of it. The one thing that stood out to me a lot is the ground plane he is standing on. The type of brushstrokes used convey a sense of roughness and uneven ground. If it is meant to be a flat plane I think you should try using larger brushes to eliminate the smaller sketchy strokes. Since it is a concept image, you want things to be as clear and concise as possible without over detailing etc..
Then again I could be reading the image totally wrong, if so, I apologize
