Hi. I'm posting for my friend Alex Li. He's too self-conscious about his art to post here, so I told him I'd do it for him.

Alex asked me for ideas on how he could make a background for the last picture. I was stumped so I thought maybe some of you could offer him advice. Cheers.

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot. He did these in OpenCanvas with a mouse. I still don't know how.

the last one is incredible (they are all good abd I understand the style is different) but damn I'm blown away by the detail, posture, pose, style.. etc etc of the last. not to mention the concept, although pseudo trite, is very interesting

I would prolly jsut extend the background on the last picture to the right or left. not that graceful, but atleast he could get it proportional to the screen. I liked all his stuff, but the last one was bad ass heeh. I was wondering if while he worked with a mouse, were theses sketches first or straight into opencanvas?

MoleculeMan>> He starts all of his paintings as globs of paint, then just super-details them. That's the part that I'm amazed by. He goes by shapes rather than lines. I always tell him that he could be a professional, but he's always saying "You're over-reacting =_="

They're all nice, I like the style quite a lot. Tell him to post in person though...I think it's strange to give comments without the possibility of direct feedback from the artist...it becomes kinda like signing someone's guestbook on their webpage.

Being self-confident is the first step in gaining the confidence of others...if you don't have faith in your ability to do something, how will you be able to ask someone else to (an employer for instance)?

Professional/amateur is merely a state of mind IMO.

hahaha, good work 99.

Tell him to haul his ass over here, he just doesn't seem to realise that he's right up there in the scheme of things.

Yeah, he's being a bother right now. I spent about 20 minutes yelling at him last night, and he said he'd only post here "someday when he gets good." After yelling, he said he'd post last night, but he obviously didn't. He'd better post today...or else.

haha, my ass was hauled...

thanks for all the nice comments peeps, was suprised that beo showed you guys =_=;

anybody have some harsh crits on my last pic? so far i'm thinking that i screwed up the cop's jaw, made the gun look like a toy, and made the fro-man's back bulge. also stumped as to what kind of bg to slap on it...

metalfan, you and your super-real landscapes; haven't seen you for a long time =)
still going to mike may's?

woo, ass hauling successfully completed, welcome!

I haven't been to mike's place since christmas.. actually, I haven't been drawing at all since then.

About the last pic, the cops mouth seem a little wide.. but some people have big mouths, so it's not really a problem. The gun looks real enough to me (..nice reflections!)
the third eye on the fro dude looks tiny bit uncentered and in the wrong angle to me, no biggie.

I don't know about the background.. a bar maybe? or on some tall building or something. I dunno

Anyway, kick ass pictures as always,
See ya!

harsh crits on the last pic: the right guy's arm looks detached... kinda like it's a separate piece of paper glued on the pic

funny how some people like you and craig can be so humble, while others leap into sijun and post their crap without thinking.

in the last one i'm seeing christopher walken and doctor who. *decides to get more sleep*.
