Well here's something from the archives. I did this about two years ago - commissioned for a book cover image - but it was never finished. I always thought I'd get back to it one day, but it's been so long now that probably prefer to start again.

The "chick" was a character from the book and I had a sketch of her costume/arm design to work from. The only other guideline was that it should be set on a desert planet.

Colors are nice. And I love alien landscapes and monsters! Your technique look very refined. The female character looks stiff and glassy-eyed though and the perspective looks odd to me.

This piece is definitely worth finishnig/fixing. There are some technical issues with it(the slanted lines on the left inside of the door frame doesn't help either), but nothing you can't fix. I'm sure you can see your own mistakes 2 years later.

Yeah, the perspectives were way off, the result of changing the image layout so many times. I didn't think it was that far off until I just drew some perspective lines.

Here's the fixed version.

Watchitman; correct on all counts.

really creative idea, the detail and textures are really good, the legs are too short but if you fixed that the picture would be SWEET

I almost like all of it. The only thing I'm not really liking too much are certain things about the girl. Her stance and facial expression make it seem like it was just some Jane Doe told to wear a funky outfit and stand there for a picture. I would have her glancing to her right into the building she is entering with a more concerned expression. Something that says "Its dark in here. I sure hope there aren't more of these things coming". The only technical aspect I can think to comment on (aside from anatomy like her right arm's elbow seems to high?) is the reflected light coming up and hitting the bottom of the gun. Maybe a redish or yellow color? Something to make it different then the light hitting the top of the gun. I could be wrong about that idea though. I'm too tired right now to dab some color there and see if it would work or not.

The ship is really cool but I would sacrifice a little detail on it to make it defocused, pushing it to the background more. Maybe in the process it will give a dusty atmosphere effect to the outside.
Holy crap. I just fell asleep for a second after writing that last sentence. I hope I don't read this tomorrow and find I've written a bunch of nonsense.

heheh, I like the little guy by her foot

I do have some issues with the girls legs though =\, I think maybe they're too skinny at the top or something. I really like the design of the big lard monster though

Looks pretty neat. Some things you'll hate me for pointing out:

The legs are of different sizes.
Since the left leg is placed in a "resting" position, the hip should tilt toward it.
In this case the "resting" leg is longer...making the hip tilt towards the opposite side than usual.
I also think that the space separating the legs at the crotch is a bit large.

Breasts too big? OK. this might be a controversial issue. But in my opinion there is a limit between "normal" and "severe back injury".

The perspective on the door is a bit off because there seem to be various vanishing points determining the placement of the lines.

That is one heck of an ugly monster, good job on that!

Hmm, all good points.

The legs are weird - they do look short now I look at it, but the body pose was taken from a reference (which I used so it wouldn't be wrong ).

I may try to fix these problems. Thanks.
