i wanted to do some tutorials on animation and stuff but as i start to study my own work i realize i don't know much about animation at all.
so, still wanting to contribute at least something, i figured i'd throw this together on a run cycle in flash.
click here for the run cycle frames and animation together
yah i know there's messed up frames n stuff, but whatever hehe get what you will out of it |

Well, I for one found this very helpful. Thanks a ton for doing it Synj. I'm serious, I had no idea how many frames it'd take to make a decent run cycle. This eliminates a LOT of the work involved for others trying to achieve this.
... and man that guy is cute. |

That's a pretty nice animation man. One thing that did occur to me however, was that it seems to me that he should travel farther with each step? I mean it looks like he's running but he's going slow as hell heh . Hope that helps

cool eheh glad you guys got something out of it
jesusclone: well, he doesn't necessarily have to be covering more ground for it to be correct. maybe the dirt is very loose and he's not able to run any faster through it, or maybe he's running on a slick tile surface. i had him not fly across the screen 'cause this is more of an example run rather than a quick fly-by. |

That's really cool. my tries at animation never quite have the flow like that.
Do you just do each frames one after another? or have to draw the extreme key positions first then add in the in-betweens after? |

Cool stuff Dan. I think the anim frames given require a bit more "air time" during the playback. Nice to see your work again sir. |
