sweeet. I like the second drawing best. you should do more of those and less of demon/warrior/fantasy stuff. the latter is too cliched and you have the talent to make things that look really original

666 - Thanks man, yeah I will get some painted up sometime. Just been trying to concentrate on my raw sketching lately.

Arkenoid - Thanks guy

Madmouth - more demons, warriors and fantasy stuff u say!? nah I wouldn't do less o that stuff, that's what I enjoy. All a matter of taste I guess, that second page is just a sketch from a magazine, more boring imo. But I'll probably make more effort in doing that kinda thing, to learn from, etc. Cheers.

Tek9z - Thanks Tek

JR - Thanks man!

Hey! I see a dinky!

... wonderful as usual, Cos.

The naked guy holding the punk in the air looks incredibly "stiff" to me. Almost like it's a statue. Other than that itty-bitty crit, I have nothing more to offer except everlasting praise.

You work in A4?. If not, what size?.
Do you often shade by turning your pencil side on, or am I just imagining it?

Brilliant work man.

Lukias - Thanks dude, yeah been working on a4 for awhile, used to work in more than double that size pad, but I'm finding this size more comfortable for working out compositions, etc. I do turn the pencil occasionally, get's a nice textured look. Found you get different result depending on the paper you use, rough seems to work better for it.

Frost - cheers m8, yeah I'll paint some of this stuff at some stage. Just staying focused with sketchbook work lately.

Gil - Thanks =)

Morbid Guy - Yo bruvsah! cheers for the compliments man :P

Barbarian hoards aren't really my thing but these are really well done. You're drawings show that you have a solid grasp of anatomy.

Your style has an old-school 70's comic-style to it, like some of Jim Sterenko's work. Cool stuff. I always liked that style more becuase, well it was drawn better. The characters are all anatomically correct. Later 90's artists that were popular, like that Liefeld guy, were just plain crappy artists.

Spectra - Dahamn! *busses me james brown moves* like a sketch machine! (like a sketch macheeene!!) Cheers

Apollo + Makafui - Thanks =)

Watchitman - Cheers, Steranko rung a bell, did a search. Never really was into his stuff, bit before my time, but he has some nice work. Some of his fantasy stuff looks kinda frazetta inspired (no suprise there) but still in his own style.

I agree with what you're saying about the earlier artists tho, was just alot more originality in their styles. Later on (specially when labels like image came out) and all the copycats trying to draw like mc'farlane and jim lee, just got really fucking lame..

[edit]- I was more into the 80's and early 90's stuff, liked alot of the 2000ad artists like Bisley, Fabry, Bolland, Hickleton, Dillon, O'neil, etc. Some of the 70's/80's marvel guys like John Byrne and Mike Zeck I really liked, Sienkiewicz and Kent Williams (who still kick arse) too..

Not many of the new comic artist's really catch the eye nowadays, Greg Staples who started late 90's for 2000ad has gotten pretty shit hot tho, really like his stuff.

Especially because neither one of those artists were very good, Jim Lee is especially bad, in my opinion.

I love Sienkiewicz and Kent Williams work. Dave McKean's early work was very similar to Sienkiewicz's style but his more mature work has developed in a totally different (but cool) direction. And speaking of artist's who imitate Sienkiewicz, check this guy out: ashleywood.com I never heard of him until a friend told me about his site last week but then, I don't really pay much attention to comics anymore. He has some great fine art work though.
