Greetings to all of you. I just came by from another forum and will be around for a while...
Currently I am working on some pictures that will be posted here when they're done. In the meantime, there's the possibility to see some of my finished pix on this page:

Alright, my first posting. I finished this painting yesterday. It is based on an acrylic sketch and finalized in Photoshop.

Well done. Im not as experienced as other people in the forum so I cant help out too much. My comments would be that I would like to see more interaction between the flames and the character. The colors are great, but I think if you had more shadows and more fire type of highlights it would make your composition more interesting. Just a few comments you might appreciate. |

Thank you, I really appreciate it. And you are right, I thought the same, when looking at the finished painting. Fact is, that I nearly missed my dead-line, so there was definitely no time to put some more work on it. But maybe I will again lay hands on this good man here, to make the picture look more "finished". Anyway thank you for your comments. |

Pretty cool. I like the mood, and some of the areas of colour.
However I get distracted by some of the 'scratchy' marks you have made. You know the ones I'm talking about, they seem uncertain, with no purpose and hastily placed. This is particularily evident at the top of the doorway, and the flames in general. Each mark you put down should enhace, not detract from the form. I think you need to rework and consider that area some more.. perhaps thats where the title of the book is going, but thats not really an excuse.
Hope that helps a bit. ![](images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) |

I know exactly what you mean and you are right. I think these uncertain strokes are what they seem to be: Uncertain strokes. I left them, better forget them when deadline came near. They were meant to sketch out some more of the fire but i have not finished them. I will definitly rework the picture when I got some spare time at my hands. Thanx for your observation. |

Not too shabby. It doesn't look as planned as it could be. And it's not realistic enough to come across as being solid and volumetic but it not expressionistic enough to be really fluid and dynamic. It looks like a compromise. Where you short on time? It looks a bit hurried. |

Yes i was indeed in a hurry. That's also why there are some black lines still visible on the back of the figure .
For camparison, here's what I started with:
This piece was done in acrylics and also in a hurry. But I nerver liked it, so I decided to do some work on it in Photoshop. To see some of my older, but finished works, you may want to have a look at my site until I can post something new.-)

I do think the final version is an improvement. That's a neat technique if you're careful to make sure the Photoshop bits match up properly with the visible painted parts. |
