Could I get some feedback as to which color presentation seems most interesting? I'm stuck. The blue has that sense you got from watching the Abyss, the inky blue water and all. However, after I did the gold tinted pic it made me wonder if the blue one is too monocrhomatic. The gold tinted pic has an aged feel to it that seems appropriate. You see my dilemma? Thanks friends.

My personal preference is the first one. However the second looks surreal!

Hmmm, I really like the 2nd one better... .
Maybe you try combining them... .
The 2nd one with a lil bit more blue would be awsome!

I agree on number one.

Very nice...i like the bubbles and the pose of the character a lot.

If the dark spot on the chest should be a projected shadow from the swimmer i think it should be further to left. You could add some dark streaks of shadow in the water where the swimmer blocks the light rays.

agreed on the light rays. The second one is good. Dabs of blue area wouldnt hurt.

Are the black and white sytle streaks plankton... or simply for style. Or both. Kinda suggestive of planton.

It would look nice if you turned the streaks into actual plankton with subtle nuainces of green. Making it translucent.

just a suggestion.

looks really cool though.

I really like the first one better,

But I think the charecter needs a little more contrast.. There is such a bright light above him... shining through... he might aslo cast a shadow on the stuff below... Just some thoughts.

Nice work all in all though.. I love the style...

I choose the 1st one. Looks to be more calm & warm. If you do it for children I'd take it.

I was just listening to Caribean Blue by Enya, and it totally fits the first one. The second one, while an interesting color, feels a touch less magical (which basically the ocean just seems more vast). Choose the first one or I'll come take out your knees.

I say number one. The second one does not seem to be an underwater scene.

People, you're killing me. It seems like most people like the blue one but then enough of you say you like the golden pic.
So ... in the interest of my knees I'm gonna go with the blue one and touch it up some. Thanks people for your opinions. Sijun's members mean a lot to me.

Wigin: Hey thanks bro. Sorry it has been a while. I'll get back on msn soon!

Isric: Thanks Matt for the inspiration to go blue (great song reference too, you're always the Enya inspiration!)

I'll update this thread when I can.

Well i know you have made your decision anyway but i will still add in my 2 cents worth =], anyway, i seem to like the second picture more, its more mysterious and im guessing thats the mood your going for from the guy looking down at some old treasure boxes or whatever they are in there, i really like them both but the second one is just a tad more better keep up the good work

cool painting. i like that it looks realistic, yet it's actually painted in a simple style. i prefer the second, i think the colors are more unexpected. it's interesting, the first gives the impression he's diving in the ocean, the second looks more like the water of a lake... uhhh, maybe it's just me

Very cool pic hethebar. You captured the underwater feel very nicely. As to your dilema, how about trying to combine the two as somebody mentioned already. Here I had a quick try.

One thing about the pic that stands out as a little unusual to me is the size of the guys feet. I thought he was wearing flippers at first and then saw there were toes. This has an overly cartoon feel I think that doesn't quite fit in with the style of the rest of the pic in my opinion. Otherwise great stuff.

For me, it was refreshing to see an underwater scene in something other than blue. I live in an area where most of the subsoil is red clay, so a lot of our water looks like this.

Also, we have some pretty deep spring-fed lakes with high tannin levels which give the water the color of strong tea. The second picture reminds me of diving for mussels in one of those lakes.
