BTW....could someone tell me any good techniques for keeping sharper edges and where I could find some tutorials on coloring.

Nice image, not at all what I was expecting from your title (I thought it would be cheezy anime). It's a cool concept and you have a nice composition and colour scheme. If you want harder edges, use a hard edged brush. I'm serroius, there's no trick just use hard edged round brushes in photoshop. If you like working misty at first and would later like to make the edges crisp without having to paint over them, you can use "unsharp mask" filter.
