this doesnt look finished and not very good either but that is also the reason I post it. to get some constructive critisism, paintovers or whatever to make me spot the anatomy probs and stuff that makes it look less good than it should. tear it apart, fire away, gimme some and all that. any help is MUCH appreciated. I love doing this stuff but at this level of suckyness Id appreciate ur help. thanks yoooo. |

I guess nobody's in the helping mood...
anyways, You're on the right track.. but you need to start studying the actual structure of the human(oid?) head....
the head has a very solid egg-ish shape:
The eyes are 1/2 way between the top and bottom, nose is 1/2 way between eyes and bottom, mouth is roughly 1/2 way between nose and bottom of chin (usually a little higher than 1/2 way:
The corners of the mouth line up with the pupils when the pupils are looking forward. and the highest point of where the ears connect to the head are level with the outter corners of the eyes:
these rules can be bent a little but not too much.

I like your choice in flesh tones. Also I like the expression on the face (or lack of one ). I agree with everything awetopsy said about the structure of the face. Something else that you might want to work on is your light source. Try to find a refrence for what you want to paint and set it up under your same lighting conditions. Also try to clean up your edges and curves the head looks a bit lumpy. You do have a cool looking character portrait there though and you should keep working on it. I did a quick repaint for you here:

thanks a ton for ur help u 2! awetopsy - those lines just made me spot the areas that looked wacko, thanks. hunter - ur painting has loads of more character than mine and shading is lot more real.
