I would say treat the hair more like you treated the eyes. Suddenness is key. The aproach to hair is every similar to that of metal only there is usually just one highlight at rings around the top of the head.
Look at photos. Pay close attention to the way hair is usually darkest hearest the face. Also look at the shapes that the mid tones, darks and hightlights make on different people under various lighting conditions and specifically looks for pattens that remain some-what constant.
Also when you study these pictures, notice how hair clumps and groups in locks which in long straight hair in particular, resembles folds in drapery.
Another couple of important things to keep in mind is:
1. Hair tens to fallow the contour of the head in a loose sort of way. Don't be afraid to draw the hair too far away from the face either.
2. Think of hair in groups or lockes rather then individual strands.
You will find that if you get the darks aroudn the face and the parting to look good, everything else is just secondary detail. |
