Looks great! I like the detail around the waist area, sword, sheath etc. I'm a little confused on the shield though... needs a bit of lighting inside and the arm straps where the shield is held |

I probably should leave this to the good artists, but I did a quick draw over for you showing the anatomy I'd fix.
Basically I shortened his torso(I noticed it seemed really long once I started drawing on it, so I hid the painting and drew it in fresh), his bicep seemed to be growing into his shoulder, and even overlapping the tricep on the outside - remember that the bicep comes from the armpit area, from behind the shoulder in this perspective. Also, his posture seemed a little stiff, I eased him up a little, made it a touch more natural. I shortened his forearms, since they seemed long. I brought his left shoulder into view a little more, and added in his back muscle on his right side. Nicely rendered, can't pay too much attention to the form though! Maybe someone better can jump in and give some more pointers. |

It sucks when you're so bad in anatomy that you have to hide everything interesting:

The anatomy seams ok.
i must say you really suceeded in making him olmost moving on the picture,
the first thing i ever noticed on the pic was that it looked like he was just standing up, moving slighly upwards with some debris falling of.
this was intentional right? =) great pic! althought i wouldnt mind seeing a slightly less rough version. |

hmmm, i dont know, he seems kinda short to me. barbarians, in my head at least, are massive, smelly and strong. i was just trying to measure him out based on his head size, and i think he is about 7, 7 and a half head sizes tall,(this sounds nuts).
I would make hime taller, and wider i think. but i really dig the pic. it reminds me of the portraits for Icewind Dale. |

Thanks for the replies, and Anthony that's a very nice repaint, you've read your Loomis
Today I found a pic of Arnold himself as Conan, he had almost the same pose and even the lighting was pretty close. I made some adjustments to the torso and redrew the hands, but was too lazy to change the legs, perhaps tomorrow..
you can see the update above. |

hey ! the anatomy seems fine to me too i guess its koz its the newer version yeh well the onli crit from me is his eyes and mouth.. well his face. he looks realli bored ? his eyes are like squashed and his mouth is expressionless as if he's half asleep.. like he's a model and he's bored as maybe add some savage-ness yeh well keep it up |

I've got to disagree (personal opinion of course) - i like the way he has such an 'in the zone' countenance - it makes him seem like he's paused in a fighting stance, awaiting his enemy's move. |

I think the main problem is the too long biceps/triceps area. "underarm" in english?
That part of his arm is way too long. It can often be very tempting to exxagerate the biceps to show strength, but the areas that really are noticable on strong people are the triceps and back muscles. I hope my picture gives you the idea.
