Yeah strangely enough that song came up while I was working on this...
Let me know what you think.

Gourgeus! On of the best picture I ever saw. Technique is really good as well as an interesting subject. The only problem Im having with this picture is the coat or whatever is behind her, it doesn't look right. Also, that liquid on here... I assume it is blood, but it looks mor elike paint. It should be just a litle less opace on the sides. Oh well I never saw that much blood in real life so I cant really argue. Good Work!

Steven- My GF was looking at this with me, and she wanted to know why the girl is bald, and why her knee area isn't more slender.

I like the image, however, I think as a "Maneater," she should look a bit more menacing?

wow. i dont know, i think she is pretty menacing allready. i would almost put this in "you need to see a shrink" territory. bloody fantastic.

what did you do this in? my only suggestion is her cape. it looks like skin, so i dont know if it would be billowing like that, well, maybe just not as much. and that knee is a bit awkward.

great work.

This is one of your 3d works, right? The subject is cool, as stated before. Her pose and the background are really nice.

The cape though--It just doesn't work right now. It looks like it's sewed together from skin, which is cool. But it doesn't look right at all.. It looks too flat. There are no real defining folds. Maybe it's also too light too near the colors of her own skin? I know you can make it look better

Can't wait to see this one more developed.

Hi there!
Very nice!!!!
However I believe I see a problem in the angle of her body in comparison to the background. It's almost like she's about to fall backwards.
The cape, yeah!

Is the man in the background 3d og handdrawn? I guess cgi?!

Excellent body. I really like the way the blood was done. I'd almost like to meet her if she wasn't a knife wielding psycho with a cape made of stitched together flesh.

Lunatique: I'd imagine she is bald to prevent hair pulling in the pit fights or whatever it is she is into.

Thanks all! To adress your points: bald... no special reason, maybe I'll try some hair on her. Knees... I always do them too thick in 3d.
I did this in Maya. The cape is really tricky, I'll work some more on it.
Her body angle: she's on the same floor level (and the same angle) as the guy, but the background has been rendered separately, I guess I should have used the same camera... Yes, the guy, and everything else, is 3d cg.

BTW What's you secret for lighting setups? Do you use default render or you use MR?

BTW, if this is default render, then you are on of those "not-many" people who know how to unlock Maya's render. I try to spend as much time as possible with rendering at AW, but still tend to focus on modelling rather.

Excellent work Steven.
As stated before me, the cape looks totally out of place and unnatural. But, the girl is outstanding.
Wonderful work.

M

P.s. I really dig the blood too.

Death Dealer, I think highres models of humans are hard to find, although I haven't checked around extensively lately.

Yes it's the default Maya render and lighting. Lighting setup? a cluster of about 8 - 10 low-intensity low-res spotlights spread in a circle around the main focus of interest, then one single stronger spot from above, with a sharper shadow. No ambient light.

Hm, that cape, what to do about it?

Just a suggestion for the cape - human skin is damn thin - it should be more translucent
and (as far as i know) a lot of its colouring when on the body comes from:
a: what's beneath it and
b: the fact it has blood pumping through it - so - it should have a paler hue -
if it's made from old skin; it would be more leatherish and/or rotting - ie - browns and greens - (depending on the curing process), if fresh; perhaps more bloodstained with elements of flesh still attached - perhaps a patchwork with pieces of both?
Other than that - love the image, especially the lighting and muscle-bound gimp

[edit] grammar

Thanks Eric, jr, Gil!
Thanks Satan, some very good points - yes I was also thinking about how cool it would be if the material was glowing with light from the other side, like an earlobe does sometimes... but I'd have to paint it, can't do it in Maya... might try it
later...

By the way I updated the image a little, painted in some hair, darkened the cape, lengthened the knife handle... what do you think?

I can't make out her hairline, where her bangs start etc. It just looks too thick on her forehead I think. Maybe have the bangs kinda parting from the wind or whatever is blowing her hair and cape back? But even if it looked right I'm starting to think the image had a better effect when she didn't have hair. I may change my opinion within the next few moments but I figured I'd just say what I felt when I first looked at it.

Somebody said the blood looks like paint?
Hell no that blood looks awesome.

I agree about the hair and her forehead and suggest you thin it out there.
Anyways...damn styling work bro.

Where's the dinosaur??

I didn't see it when she was bald but I don't like the hair she currently has. I'm going to go ahead and suggest you leave her bald, but give her some sort of head ornament. A tiara with a jewel, perhaps a matching one in her stomach. If the cape is made of human flesh, you might want to have a set of hands attached at her neck and the skin going back from that. Just a morbid thought that occurred to me. Nice pic, I hope you have some more fun with it.

Toodles,

Thanks, Sheldon, Gimbal8.
LOL hands at the neck - I love it!!
I'm going to do some paying work for a few days, then I'll go ahead and put that in. Yeah, I'll try some tiara or crown too, I do think of her as some kind of ruler or chief.

Anybody have a good name for her?

YOu can paint in 3D too...this is beautiful. THe only thing that seems to look awkward to me is the length of her legs, and teh elbows pinching at the joint. THe arms feel a bit blow up dollish in this area. I dont mean to make this sound bad, its not, just the first thought that came to mind when I quick saw the image. THere is a set of muscles called the ridge muscles that run between teh upper and lower halves of the arm. TEH muscles are the brachioradialis the extensor carpi radialis longus, and e.c.r.brevis They form an additional cleft in the arm and creat a fold that helps overlap the two halves more convincingly.

The cape could use a bit more work but not much. ANd man, that gimp in the background is absolutely amazing. THe modelling, the lighting, the atmosphere. Just beautiful.

How long has this particular image take to construct??? And are you doing this for anyone or is this a personal project? Just wondering its final outcome, and if we will see any of it anywhere besides your site.

And the stuff on your site? WOW!!! Really amazing stuff. I especially like the concept bike with female driver. That is awesome.

what a great pic. i think she looks badass enough to have some tattoos or tribal scaring. that would be pretty cool. maybe some wierd body piercings. something to break up the constant skin tone i think.

im not to sure about the hair though. i kinda liked her bald. the hair looks great, but it definetly changes her persona i think.

for the cape, maybe a more dried out skin brown/white. maybe even a face somewhere in the flaps.

cant wait to see what u do next!

Very nice. Can we get a version without the knife, though?

Bah.
