Woah! I had no idea there was going to be a Dune cartoon. The drawings are cool, especially the Baron and I assume Piter de Vries (the lil short Wolverine-lookin' dude). Who's the girl wearing the Atreides outfit in the top pic. That's not Paul is it??? And is that Chani next to him/her?
Hmm, maybe you can't tell us who they are yet. I gotta say, these look more Jetsons inspired than Dave Lynch, but I guess it's for kids. I've always wished they could've made a Dune movie that did the book justice, like they did LOTR. This is still better than that made-for-cable crap that came out recently, though. |

Looks cool. There is some Disney style to some of the characters, especially the Baron
Although I find it a little strange to see Paul and Leto with long hair it would also be cool to see some more of the suspendors the Baron has. The Krys knives are also made from the teeth of the worms so it would be cool to have a more of a tooth shape to it.
For what is the animation? Flash, Tv?
Now show us some pics of Rabban the Beast, the Bene Gesserit mother and the guild Navigators. |

the project is still in pre pre production
so it could easily be cancelled prematurely.
don't get your hopes too high..
and ofcourse it will NOT follow the original story very closely.
:to mature for a kid's program etc.. |

I would get rid of that little animal. I dont know if you have ever seen "Kaze no Tani no Naushica" a.k.a "Warriors of the Wind" but your animal there looks about 99% the same. (as far as I can recall)
Other than that, everything looks nice. I really dig dune. Cant wait to see more! |

Robert: I dunno about that...there are similarities, but they're certainly not identical.
Anyway, they all look good, but I would make Paul look more masculine. I would also sharpen up the outlines in places like the character's hands, as they look "fuzzy" in some areas.
And it's a shame that just because it's animated they feel the need to "dumb down" the story for kids. Come to think of it, why does it have to be "for kids" anyway? Because it's a cartoon?? Oh well...
Oh, just out of curiousity, what format is this going to be produced in? Traditional cels using a camera table or a computer package, such as Toonz? I'm currently working on an (amateur, very very amateur) animation with Toonz...

can you tell us more? is there a site for the show yet? who is developing the project? i love dune, it's like a part of me or something, and i love animation, so this would be neat to know more about.

I like some of these, but I think the Baron looks a bit like a fat floating clown? And then his midgit mentat? I dunno. Kinda like circus freaks or something. (no offense to those circus freaks out there) |
