The background doesn't really have anything to do with the creature, other than some last minute red glow on the arm and chest, does it? The other -white- highlights should show some link with the surroundings too.
Also, the contrast between the fine lines of the ogre and the blur of the background doesn't get accepted by the viewer's mind (me ).

That's what I think.
