So I've been trying to come up with something combining 3d and 2d apps (and scans/drawing/ect) that isn't nessasarily illustrative or abstract but somewhere in between that is actually interesting. And maybe even interesting to people not familar with computers or computer art. Does this stuff seem to have any artistic value to you are does it come off simply as cheap eye candy from some one who has only rudementry 3d skills? Is this enough? Do I need to give more? I can handle the truth.

I like it very much, especially the first one! Totally contradictive.
But ofcourse you have to give more!!
Always!

I think they little pretty good. I also think this is an interesting idea. Though, your goal is to combine 2d and 3d apps. I think it should be to combine 2d and 3d artwork. I think the 3d objects should "meld" into the background someway so it doesn't just look like 3d objects sitting on a 2d background.

Sorry for the first sentence in my last post. I cut and pasted text to reorganize my thoughts and came up with a crazy typo.

It should read, "I think they look very good."

I like the first one the best. Personally, I think you should heighten the abstraction on the 3D forms even more to increase their contrast with your backgrounds. Perhaps toon-render the shapes?

I agree with root88
-maybe you should work more like a painter on that: 2D than 3D than 2D than 3D...... and so on
instead of combining them like a collage.
I think that wise it would "melt" together
-really nice idea I'm looking forward to see this developing

your idea of combining 2d/3d is very cool. I love the 2d bg's you did "tres mod". As far as the "whole image" I like the third one best. The stripes on the model add something that the other 3d models seem to be missing. Just my $.02, and worth everypenny you paid for it

peace

I see mutated marshmallows, mutated mushrooms, and mutated brass instruments.
well, i like the first one(marshmallows), but to be honest, the other 2 look too abstract-cartoony

I like the idea. A lot of the current internet design scene is a combo of 2d and 3d stuff. I like the idea that you are escaping the mainstream, but I also like the mainstream too.

I am just starting to investigate this avenue myself, although rather combining illustration with design elements instead of 3d.

You have stuck the 3d objects onto the background, so there is no real interaction of form going on. It would be a lot more interesting if some parts were to combine with 2d elements into an abstract, but beautiful form.

just my 2 cents...

A word on interaction of forms; perhaps you could try repeating some of the elements found in the 3d work in 2d as well, or vice versa? Just a thought, these are very good.

Looks like the way the object and the surrounding space interact or don't interact is the big issue with these. I had thought that the contrast between the two was interesting, but I'll have to expieriment with it for a while. Thanks again, ya'll.
