ok. I'm done with this guy. Frankly, I'm sick of looking at his ugly mug. heh. anyway, I did two versions, I like the second more even though it's weaker compositionally.

The shading around the red makes those sections look beveled. i'd re-examine your reference and look closely at proportions, the shape of the head and the eye-ball area.

I agree. The black lines on his skin look like they were carved into a red surface.

The lines don't have that symmetrical quality to them and it all looks a little "messy".

The shading on the eyes needs a little more attention IMO.

Tip: Post a smaller version with a link to the fullsize picture in case you really feel like showing it (many don't like the idea of posting full-size artwork online for safety reasons).
