One of my latest efforts in Maya, most of her joint deformation is built in, but I did tweak her a tiny little bit specifically for this pose. I also did use a photo from one of those artist reference books, as reference. C&c welcome.

awesome! If it wasn't for the clay-like hair and the foot (the one on the ground) i'd swear it was a photo.

I don't know why the foot doesn't look right to me. Maybe there should be more of a curve at the Achille's tendon to the heel.

This looks great, It's stuff like this that make me interested in learning 3D modelling.

Very realistic, Steve, and so lifelife in her anatomy as well. It almost forces you ot believe there's a real human skeleton under that polygon mesh. This is the sort of 3d you're making a living out of, isn't it?

This is a very strong piece here. It is minimalistic like most of your work but features a strong composition.

Very good work.

My own thoughts on the work is the hair is too dark for feel of the image but creates a useful point of contrast.

I'm not sure if the light on the straight leg is desireable or where it is coming from but doesnt seem to hurt the work any.

Look at the way skin creases (see the ankle area) and the foot looks to be too small.

btw.. i also notice on some of your other renders you made the knee joint too small.

Anyway this is quite nice.. it may look better if you remove some space on right side of image.

Very nice.
I liked her better in color though.

Again, great work dude.

Take it easy,

Looks nice. B&W is a good choice.

The hair looks a little clayish, but better then I could do.

I like the muscle definition in the back, are all the muscles rigged to flex?

Hey, how YOU doin'? Uh, I mean, good work Steven. One thing I've noticed a couple times with your work is that the ankles of your babes are not very slim. I think it would add a lot of feminimity and grace to your models if the ankles were a little more slender. IMO, of course.

Edit: Yikes! The visible hand also is a bit mannish (as in, a tad bit large).

only probs I see are her right leg (maybe both legs but I see it on right) near the knee/slightly below it and her cheeks (facial you little perverts)/facial expression. otherwise it looks real. I love the back detail and the folds in her underwear.

i have a lot of respect for the way you manage to create stuff like this, id love to see you animate this babe! I agree with most of the others, theres one point i like to add: Her right leg seems bent in an unnatural way, needs to bend more to the back.

I love your work Steven. crits, if I had to grip about anything it would be "her" right foot/ankle. Something about it is wierd. Maybe if you took that foot and made her on the balls of that foot, kind of pushing up it would look a little better. but I guess all you can do is experiment. Nice bone structure btw.
Quick question.. Is this FakeSubD modeling?

My lord... thought this was a photo for awhile. Very sexually arousing which disturbs me, because it isn't a photo...

Not to bore with long postings I won't reply individually, just to say - "Thanks everyone"! And reply to your questions:
Highfive - yes 3d is what I do all day long, except for some 2d sometimes, for fun and practise.

Briareos - not all muscles, I tend to think more in terms of overall deforming of the area around each major joint, rather than tensing individual muscles between joints, which on a young girl usually isn't that noticeable. But the deforming/squishing of the kneejoint or hip joint as it bends (for instance), that is very noticeable and a large part of the attraction of the human form, so I spend a lot of time getting that right.

NextGen - this is 'real' Subd's, I'm guessing Fakesub is when you use polys and then a script to smooth them?

As for comments, the consensus seems to be the hair needs work, and the ankles and hands, mostly, also maybe the feet. I agree, and I will work on this in my next version of this character, which is underway. Again thanks.

Personally, I think this is the best 3D piece you've ever done.

Aside from the issues you're already aware of, its a very nice work.

Wonderfull as usuall Steven. Well... even better then usuall. I am a long time fan of yours.

BTW, Im using maya too... but Im more of a technical person.. I have only one question.. did you use Renderman, because all the edge rendering that you usually get with it seams to be present in your picture.. Or did you write some shader for this one, so the adges of contrast would be more defined?

Here's a link to the Free Maya Offer I was refering to. In February you'll be able to get a learning edition of Maya for free. It's unlimited use and full-featured with three caveats:

1) You can't use it for commercial purposes.
2) It watermarks all your images.
3) The Learning Edition can't use plugins.

Yeah, the right foot shouldn't be able to bend that way by the way the leg is positioned. Would probably be painful or at least uncomfortable. Otherwise, the feet and the rest of the anatomy is pretty good. A+ and very sexy

WOW. I mean, WOW. Steven, I'm taking my very first 3D modeling class and you've made me feel like quitting! Seriously, it makes me want to get real good at it. That's the most realistic 3D human I've seen. Great job, Steven!
