well I just tried to paint something with only the paintbrush tool in photoshop because am always using the airbrush tool to smooth everything... and thats what I got.
I was thinking how cool would it be to walk through the forest and find a temple or something...

I like it. The brushwork is very expressionistic, being a style I kind of lean towards. I think your lighting is rather confused here though. You've got the light hitting the top and back mostly of the top of the temple thingy but then somehow light is hitting the sides of all the pillars. Which don't really seem to cast much of any shadow anywhere. The lady also seems to be getting lit from almost exactly the opposite direction judging from her hair, and the clothing looks like it is getting lit that way too. Your trees have no realy lighting on them. That is ok and good, if they did they would be a distraction instead of adding interest. Your perspective floats about a bit I believe, and the maiden looks rather like she is floating. If she is floating, than mayhap you'd want to give a reason why she is floating. I rather like the composition of it too, the trees in front there are what makes this painting in my opinion. Over all, I think you should stick to the paintbrush, they are usually more interesting than airbrushed pictures, keep practising! |
