Stumbled onto this site after seeing some people talk about it on another forum. This is so amazing, everyone here is brilliant. I've been trying to work up my courage to post something because everyone here is on such a higher level. Oh well, here it goes. Any C&C would be great as it seems I can learn a lot from all of you. I did all of these recently in painter.

Don't dog yourself for your work, it's good stuff, you should be confident. Have fun here, it's a good place. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Hey man,
cool pics. You have a good sense of weight and depth in your shading. Especially around the face I noticed that you've captured a 3rd dimension. I can see that the bangs have weight and that they cast shadows on the face. Basically, good modeling.
Good expressions too.
Well, work on drawing a scene or a fantastic character design. You know invent a costume and all. Careful not to fall into the trap of drawing character after character though. Your drawings have to have a purpose or tell a story or something for people to really care.
I challenge you: don't post anything new unless it is a scene. Attempt it at least. Check out my page for ideas and go to 'Friendly Competition'. I've got themes and you can see what people did to them. I tried to create a story or feeling for each of them. Heck, I'm still working on this.

I agree! You're on the right path. Suggestion: think about line quality. maybe you'd want to use crisp line. |

Don't worry, you are better than a lot of the clowns that post here. You are definitely on the right path.
Give us a few months, and we'll train you into a lean, mean, drawing/painting machine! You won't believe how much you'll improve if you stick around and participate. |

Yea, it is a different style than what I have seen before too. I mean I have seen anime/manga stuff before, but at least you are adding some character to your own style. I admire some anime style work....like Masamune Shirow....<---spelling
I too should accept this challenge by hethebar, because often my stuff doesn't have a theme or scene. But I am learning the ins and outs of painting and the great "Four Edge" rule too...which if you are interested painting you can find this forum very helpful. I believe there are several threads started here concerning themes too by Steven, Socar and a few others I believe.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I look forward to learning a lot! I'll try to come up with a scene next time, but I'll admit its not one of my strong points. I prefer to hide it, like hands ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
