I like the look of the dragon, but the composition of the painting just really bothers me for some reason. There is a lot of contrast on the dragon, but everything else just looks ... well plain and slapped together. It looks like it can't decide whether it is meant to be a flat painting or whether it is meant to have a bit of depth to it or not. I think it is just the eye direction of the piece. You snap to the dragon's head and then immediately flow out, there isn't any reason to look at it any longer. I think that is what is really bothering me about it. I rather like your rendering of the dragon though. I just feel that you could do more with this. Also judging from the positioning of the forearm it is looking to be a very narrow dragon. |
