Hi all,

Here a finished version of Irina...A beautifull Russian girl...

I would appreciate any tricks to help me to get more likeness in my next drawing...Thats would be very appreciated.

It s not a paint over. It s a paint patience -

It tooks me about 4-5 hours to get it like I want. -

Only by eyes to practice. Without any pencil mesurment.

The whole face is too wide. I think if you narrowed it (even just with transform tools) you would get a better likeness. Otherwise it's pretty good, although the shading is kind of bland (that is probably the lighting.) For example, look at the shading on her neck; I think that is much more interesting.

Copying is great practice but you must also study.

You should spend more time sketching and less painting. More time studying anatomy, bones, and live models (if possible) and less photos.

Irina looks a little skewed
a good way to prevent this is to flip your image horizontally from time to time, you will immediately see wich parts of your work are off-axis

She looks skewed a bit because It s the best that I can do at this time and I ve no more time to spend on a such drawing.

I ll try to scketch more...to learn more!

Whoah, the original photo is a work of art in and of itself! To recreate it is futile. How does one even begin to improve upon such beauty? (How about float\blur\Soft Light\Desaturate\curves?) heh heh!

But seriously now... if I were you, I would mirror her left eye and make the appropriate tweaks in order to hide the mirroring effect, if any. Aside from her kinda funny looking right eye there's nothing wrong with the drawing. (unless you count the brush-strokey fade-out) The only "mistake" you made was to stick it right next to the source hottie! ha! Just because the drawing has a squarer-looking face doesn't mean it's wrong, it just looks bad in comparison to that exceptionally lovely specimen. It's all relative...
