I started this yesterday while because I hadn't done anything productive since I got sick. I originally wanted to make myself an elf but the more I worked on it, the more "human" it became. Still I wanted to do something unique, so I took the direction of making my face into a mask instead. So... yup... here it is

I like how the background tone matches your lips. The mask idea is a good one, I would like to see you play it up a bit more. You have a rough / broken edge. Maybe add a bit more detail to it? I would be interested in seeing the mask have more of a wrap around 3D feel to it.
Just my 3 cents. |

looks nice~ just wondered if this was all digital or mixed media. the most interesting part for me is the splotchy black stuff that looks like diffused watercolor. |

Jez, I think that is one of the most graceful, artistic and strikingly beautiful portraits I have ever seen. I must learn how you make your skin tones and details so soft! This pic is phenomenal and I do believe I've found my new desktop. Would you happen to have a 1024-sized version?
Beautiful.

This turned out so well. The background's unfinished nature keeps my focus on the face which is very nicely rendered. Especially your eyes. It also looks very much like you! Great painting. |

Thanks again for all the nice comments everyone. I think this is one of the better things I've done. I've gotten to where I work a bit faster as well.
Luna - No, this was done in Photoshop |

Luna - I've recently developed a technique that gets nice texture in my work. I made several custom brushes that I use as well |

i like it basically. however what i dontlike is the fact that the prespective seems a bit off.
it look like the eyes are too frontal while the face nose and lips are skewed. ilke 3\4 look. overall the different face parts seem not connected to eachother cuz of the lightning and basic tones. i'd work on the eye on the right
still it's very very pretty and has a pretty style to it. good work. |

trock - Ummm.... no.. they haven't.
topeira - Thanks for the crit, but I'm not sure I see the perspective problems you're talking about. Either way I've moved on for now and I'm not sure I'll work on this piece again. |
