nothing truly constructive, but i just wanted to say i'm absolutely in love with the style, and more significantly, the color scheme... great stuff... just one question: what exactly is that blue thingy near his waist? |

Lotekk: thanks - it's a kerchief(a cloth)

I'm scraping the bottem of the barrel here, so don't take my crits to serious, but here goes:
1) I don't think the bright blue of the thing at his waste is helping the composition. The eyes go strait towards it, and it's slightly distracting.
2) The bird near his hand could use a bit of work. Its wings, together, form a pretty strait line, not very convincing in an organic object. Also, his hand is lost behind it, and its a bit of a 'dead end' for the eyes of the viewer (does that make any sense?).
3) The wrinkles on his forehead get pretty wonky where the moddled shadow meets the highlight. No biggy at all.
There. As brutal as i can be ;-). Love your style.

I have to say, this is some of the most original artwork I've seen here lately. Very beatufil, great mood.
I have to agree about the blue handkerchief though. |

Very original, and very nice!
The only thing I would say is the bird in front of his hand might look more like it's in flight if the wings are spread.
My GF loves this piece! The little mice...cute. |

madmouth : thanks
ex: can't tell exactly, something I drew in school and colored while being very happy at that time
Cicinimo:thank you - that was exactly the crit I was looking for - I agree with all (though it's not bright blue -->more greyish blue)
PPI: ah... well not exactly what I thought at but....why not
horstenpeter: thanks for the great compliment
Lunatique:thanks man, I already considered spread wings bevor but somehow I ended up with this one...hmmm but I think you are right
Somebody told me that the painting style of the grass differs to much from the painting style of the shirt and that differs of the painting style of the bird.
Do you agree?
I'm very interested in that
thanks

Great picture. Great Athmosphere.
I would draw some fingers under the bird because it seems (to me) that the Hand should be seen a little bit under the bird. Otherwise it looks like the Hand is in the Trouser pocket (or hes got no hand) but it doesnt seem so because the pocket is a little bit higher.
As I say, just my opinion. |
