God I look grumpy in this pic. Probably because I spent more time than I'd like to admit on it. That circular object is a mirror. I had one overhead light, 75 watts I think. Looks rather like me though...still, I'm much more amiable than this blighter.

Tips from the wonderful people on this forum are quite welcome I assure you. Back to my 3d toils!

Well I'm not really qualified to answering but here goes

The image is really good, atleast for practicing purposes. I see no swords, naked women, hairy beasts and can therefore not give it top marks.......hahaha, no just kidding. (Aren't online sarcasm idiotic?!)

It seems like there is something missing though.....background perhaps? And yet it would draw attention from you....I dunno..
The good thing about critisizing is that the concusion is up to the artist hehe!

Good job mate!

Anthony, I have to admit, I think this is one of your better peices.. I really like the feeling and mood. you seem to have caught exactly where the light should be for the expression on the face. Ive never seen you, so I cant comment on whether it looks like you, but I really think that the shading is excellent and the proportions are right to my eye..

the only thing is the eyes look a bit sketchy for the rest of it but thats just my opinion.

great stuff.

Hey, thanks for the comments!

Sukhoi - Everyone's qualified to comment and critique! I dunno what I could do for a bg - a more creative or accomplished artist might find something that'd compliment the rest of the pic

Awetopsy - Thanks! I've been doing those halftone drawings(just solid blacks and whites) in photoshop for a month or so, and I think it's really made me focus on accurate shadowing instead of sort of pussy-footing around the issue.

Thanks again guys, the critiques are very welcome!
