Good luck to anybody here working at ILM. Anybody know why they are shutting the commercial division down?? Lack of profitable buisness in this economy is my guess..
SPY REPORT: ILM Commercials Finished

Mr. Friendly chimes in today with startling news about ILM's Commercial Division being disbanded. Some news about layoffs as well, several hundred from the company soon it seems:
I ran into some info over weekend. Did you know that the Commercials Division of ILM will shut down on July 28th? News to me. The bottom line is that there will be no more ILM-produced commercials. Employee-wise, this will make the total number of layoffs by the end of July around 300 or so. |

Blue Sky pretty much dropped their commercial division to finish Ice Age as well, guess there's a new market opportunity for the small mom and pop cg/motion graphics shops with less overhead... who wants to hire me?  |

| WHY would they need 300 people to make commercials in the first place? I could understand maybe 100 but 300? hmm... |
