oookay, here we go:
part 1: merry xmas and a happy new year to you all:
part 2: making horror stuff out of the topic "pregnant women"
part 3: a more serious approach to the topic of part 2 (without horror...)
part 4: this is what everything looks like at the moment here in southern germany
all of the 4 pieces were done with corel painter 6.1 and involving a custom variant of painter's oil pastels. lines in piece 1 are done with a custom charcal brush, lines in piece 2 and 3 are done with a custom parker ball-point brush and piece 4 hasn't got any lines at all
crits and/or comments?
thx

I like the first and last ones. The horror-pregnant woman wasn't very appealing urk!.
The cat's claws look like metal santa-slicers!! I think you should work on getting rid of the outlines like in the picture of the tree (i really like that tree).
The line under the non-horror woman makes it look like she's balancing herself at the edge of something, like a table or something.
Just get rid of that line and it'll all look much better. |

thanks
i know, outlines aren't suitable for everythiong but since i came my way from comic and manga drawing, it's really hard to work without them.
as you see, i sometimes try to not draw them. at the moment, defining form with only colored areas works fine for smple things like that tree. defining a whole human form without lines? ouch houston, we've got a problem. |

it's really not that hard. You can make contrast using different colors (without outline) and tonalities and give volume with shading and highlighting. Even manga drawings can be made without outlines.
Try it out, experiment, don't mentalize problems where there aren't yet any.
I'll post this picture on every chance i get muahahaha!! |
