This will be the cover for Manga EX #6 from Antarctic Press. I was given the honor of doing the cover and I even have a short story on the inside (for a preview of that, please check my website).
What do you think, sirs??

hey nice work.. i love anime. I dunno what it is about your girls head.. too small? or its the hair's center isn't right.. i dunno something is wierd about the head that i cant pick out. Nice job none the less. Great coloring.
maybe its the hair part line in the middle that's messing with my mind. |

Good stuff, the head's good too, nice anime proportion, and the colors are really nice. Her lips are kind of strange a little, she's not really smiling, but they are parted... i'm not sure if they would be in this case. |

Hey Rich, nice to see you on the forum!
That's gonna make one handsome cover. It's too bad Manga EX has been cancelled --I think your cover is going to have the distinction of being the last one.

The styling of her sexy muscles looks very cool. Is that inspired by Adam Warren? His stuff rocks.
Love the earrings she has, too. Of all the artists on this forum, no-one's considered that elves might take advantage of the extra real estate their ears have. All looks very good! |

I'm not a huge manga fan, but that body rocks! I'd change her nose a bit, maybe move it to her right and turn it towards the viewer, but that's just my personal preference.. Looking forward to see more bodies like this from you |

Thanks everybody for responding! I hope your holiday season is going well.
Here's my answers to your crits:
NextGen: Hmmm. Now that you pointed it out, her head does seem a bit small. Oh well, can't fix it now... I wish I knew of this place sooner so I could've had someone critique that sooner. I also think that the part on her hair is a bit flat. Maybe beeds to be more "rounded". Thanks dude!
ghOst: She is supposed to have a smirk, not a smile. The mouth is the one part I wasn't too happy with when I completed this piece. I think it's the little divit (what the hell is it called... the thing between your upper lip and nose.... no it's not called buggers!) between her lip and nose that upsets me. Thanks.
Pat- I take it you are Pat Duke, right? If so, how are ya!? I hope to see some of your posts here someday.
Yeah, kind of wierd getting the cover for the last book. Pretty sad too. I was hoping to do more stories for them. Oh well, guess I can do another Goddess story for Mangaphile.
I remember way back in the late 1980's, I helped a friend of mine (Rantz Hosely... anybody know him) ink in some background stuff for this skateboard comic he was doing art for. I was inking in a background scene and threw in an inside joke. He said, jokingly, that if anyone saw that, they might fire him. It turns out that the comic he did was printed in their last issue!!! They died pretty quick!
Now, I finally get a cover (and a short story) printed, and the book dies. I think I am stuck in a mobius loop!
Good hearing from you again Pat!
Highfive- I like Warren's stuff, but I don't use it for reference (maybe a pose or two) because I don't want to be a clone. Warren has such a distinctive style (Big eyes, pouty lips, firm breasteses, nice, round a... ehm) that if I was to "borrow" something from him, I know people would think I'm a hack. I don't want to be a hack.
I've always thought that elves with long ears would take advantage of the extra space for more piercings. It looks cool too!!!
Iasluk- Thanks! As I mentioned above, the nose/lip thingy is a bit off. I'm glad you like it.
Thanks folks. I appreciate all the comments.
