Forgive the belated 80's buttrock reference in my subject. :P

Here are 3 paintings summing the last job I just did for dragon magazines. The assignment was to have sign posts pointing in all directions, sporting -instead of actual locations- choices a role player would make for his character(s). The sign content was assigned specifically from dragon, as were the image dimensions.

I'm not particularly proud of these, but I haven't shown anything in a while, so I felt this would be a good excuse to make my reappearance to sijun forums. c&c appreciated.

Feeb!

Nice to know you still lurk occasionally. I'm bad about lurkin' your Drawin' Board. Is that still around? I'll go find out...

As far as C&C are concerned, No critiques.

Comments though, go like this,

I like your transition from monochromatic to color with each piece. They work well, particulary with the first piece. My eye had fun dancing down that one. The last (third) piece I was dancing all around trying to figure out what was going on, but then again, isn't that what figuring out what direction you're going, is all about?

Also, I'm assuming that you are still working in Painter? I struggle when I can, but have yet to find a way to achieve the crispness that you have in your lettering...

Is it just the text tool?

Nice work.

Kris

Lukiaz and Waldo, thanks for the comments!

Lukiaz: Merry Christmas to you too!

Waldo: nope, that's not using the text tool... it's hand done stuff. As far as why they're so crisp, I have a couple of reasons... one, is that the original image is pretty huge... something like 9.5 inches @ 300 dpi. second, is that after I use a small airbrush for white(ish), and med/small felt marker (with tip rounded), I move the felt marker tool down to something like 1.2 to sharpen the edges.

At the image size, that makes a pretty tiny stroke. =)
