I should've been working, but a friend from Epilogue chat asked me to draw a little something for a friend whose dog had passed away, and I know what it's like to lose a pet, so I wasn't about to refuse.
I decided to have some fun with it...I took it in a bit of a caricature direction...but I think I like it. Yes. I think I rather...do. |

I like this. The colors are cold and the dog looks sad. The fur kind of has a matted wet fur look, which, I dunno, but seems to fit the mood well.
I remember after my dog was hit by a car, I drew a picture of her...it helps to remember the warm and fuzzy times, I guess. |

Nice to see you do something else than rats for a while ..
I rather like this one as well. The quality of the legs is not matching with the quality of the head though.

the nose looks a little mis-tilted, though it may be just the lighting, otherwise quite nice! I hope you are feeling better and good luck with the wheelchair, sorry I can't help. |

i know you are proud of your rats and the work you put into them, but this dog just stands out big time. it kind of reminds me of when enayla painted a rough picture of a black cat. it was her best piece in my opinion, even though she didnt think much of it, and i think this sad little dog of yours is YOUR best piece to date.
i hope you try and keep the stuff that was going on in yer head when you were painting this, and try and expand upon it in future paintings. |

socar, this is awesome, heh the fur gives it this great old furry carpet texture that you can almost feel by looking, and the one thing that really bothers me is the mouth, it seems slapped on there, as opposed to something that's part of the figure like the eyes, maybe because it ends in the corners so abruptly, I'm not entirely sure, but the rest looks wonderfull. |

Thanks for the comments, everyone!
Akab - Yeah, I drew my last rat a couple of times after she died, as well...one of the pics I did of her is still one of my favourites. It's a good way of preserving the memories.
klaivu - I was going for that caricature look you usually see in political cartoons, where the head is enormous and highly detailed, and then there's a silly little body.... I think I didn't make it quite pronounced enough, though, the difference...so it looks like the legs are sloppy. (Which they are.)
Vesuvius - Hm...yeah, you've got a point. I think I put too big a highlight on the top of the nose. Oh, and thanks for the well-wishes.
shahar2k - I didn't notice that until you mentioned it, but the mouth DOES look a bit rushed.
c - Thank you very much! I am actually very pleased with this picture. I didn't have much time to do it--not quite an hour--so I decided just to relax and have some fun with it, instead of being as nitpicky as usual about everything. I just hope I can remember what I was doing next time!
Dr. Squirley - Hm...I can't find the reference picture any more. I think I might've deleted it already. Sorry! ![](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |

If I were the owner of this dog, I'd be so happy! I like how his/her eyes are are looking at you, and it appears that is where the most thought and work went. The fact that the attention to detail and time spent starts at the eyes and moves outwards is fantastic. I think it's great. |
