About an hour or so, is that considered quick? It's from photo reference, though I changed some of the characters around.

Cool!
my only crits are it seems that in some areas your shapes are real well defined but other areas close by are real abbreviated. The same seems to be true with some of the contrast. The turbulence in the water behind the boat also looks more solid than liquid, like it could be rock. (but that's just at first glance)
good stuff all in all!
The characters look interesting, they're screaming for some more detail Are you gonna make a finished piece or is it more an exercise?

That is an outcropping of rock back there, if that's what you're referring to. If it's the shore that you're talking about, I can make some changes.
I find it difficult to strike a balance between what I want detailed and what I want sketchy. I want the center of the attention to have more detail than the periphery, which should be more impressionistic. Very hard to get right. Some of the foreground could have more detail in it.
Thanks for the comments. |
