i guess this is my first painting with some plannings before hand (usually i just paint quickly and then cry later).
actual size (500k)
refs used for many different parts that i can't figure out myself (which means all )
i have no art-training background whatsoever, thus the only way i can improve is from listening to what you guys say. so go and whip me up!
also, some annoying questions if i may:
- i've tried not to touch the "smudge" tool (heard that it's dangerous of some sort..), so mostly i use combination of soft/half-hard brushes and soft/hard eraser to smooth things out. but my problem is when doing skins. i think i made quite decent job with the face -more thanks to the light expose-, but as you can see his arms look more like a bunch of sticks (actually they don't look that bad if seen from moon hehe). any pointers about what should be done?
-about background. whether to use contrast or blur (soft brush) them up or combination?
i used contrast for my last pic, and the result is more photo-like (as someone too noticed). in this pic i use softbrush and also playing with the contrast. anybody care to explain which is better for which?
i hope my mumblings are making sense of some sort.
many thanks in advance. |
