Reminds me of loadsa things simultanously, quite odd... from pokemon to Total Annihilation..

The style isn't my sorta thing, but that doesn't make it a bad peice by any standard.

Got no comments or crits. As joachim showed in an earlier thread, my grasps of technicalities are often flawed, so I'll deal with my stronger ground.. the idea.

The thing that bother me is that bit of foliage.. is it growing out the back of the bot?

You seem to have depicted a large, lumbering, golem like, guardian figure. I love everything about it's stance and expression, I love the glowing fists.. but that shrub. Argh!

Somehow it just looks.. chronically out of place.. I know you covered that in the name of the thread (maybe), but is it camo? Is it part of the bot built in as pre-fab camo? Is it behind the bot? Where did the bot come from? Was it designed for this environment, or has it adapted?

I think what I'm getting at is.. I have trouble with the way you've fused natural with unnatural with no explanation of how they came to be together. Even a 'simple' picture like this holds a story, and I'm left with loads of stories, not knowing which one to pluck from the air.

The bot looks manufactured, tho old, sorta like a futuristic temple guard or something (but a jungle guard, obviously ( )). If you were looking for crits (were you?), I'd try and remedy this, by somehow making the bot so its form as a whole is more jungle like, or failing that, the plant growing out of it is explained more by showing it's hull being pitted with age and moss.

There's loads of possibilites, all of which I find quite interesting.. I love the ideas of errant AI things that have evolved and settled into an alien environment after their masters left them behind (I guess everything is alien to a robot.. but you know what I mean) ..

I've gone off on huge tangents here.. but.. hope it's been interesting if it hasn't managed to be useful.

And the best way, allegedly, to get replies to your posts is to reply to others. This board is vast, yet people do look out for the works of those who take time to comment on thier work, as it better informs them as to the approach you're coming from. Bear it in mind.

Off to bed now o/

Aha, okay, I won't bother with crits for the drawing...

I like the reflected green light, good job. You might consider pushing the shadow areas, though, to make the whole piece more dimensional.

Also, the feet are deead flat, but you've painted the ground to be in slight perspective, so there's a discontinuity there.

lurk(disengage);
nice drawing.

But the plant doesn't look bad.
having reasons behind your art is a matter of style. Most of the time my drawings are justified, and I engineer all the parts, but sometimes you just draw stuff that looks cool.

If you do want it to be a mechanical robot, the plant is a little out of place, but none of the rest of it looks like a robot, either.

it looks more like animated stone. in other words a golem. But in any case, instead of getting rid of the plant as suggested,
what would adding more plants look like.
Remember those lost cities where everything was overgrown by vines and trees, and had moss on the rest? well think of that except as a moving robot/golem/whatever guard.

Nice concept! There's something wrong with the perspective though, the viewer must be in ground level when looking at it's feet, but the upper body does not match this. The colors are neat anyway.
