This is a piece I'm posting for a freind here at work who's not a member here yet
His explanation follows:
www.brandonpeterson.com/FrenchPinupFN.jpg
I would say this for my intro:
My name is Brandon Peterson. I have just started to dabble with digital painting after a dozen years as a comic book penciller for a number of large companies in the industry. This piece started out as a pencil outline drawing I did, which I scanned and worked up to a color piece in Photoshop using just the pencil tool and a wacom tablet, with some layers for the special effects. I was going for a sort of Mucha-esque color harmony feel and composition, while retaining some of the comic book sensibilities of the character. The piece will be printed at 11x17 400 dpi so a lot of the strokes and mark-making is lost in this small jpeg. I am looking for any suggestions or critiques, and maybe a chance to post future work here. Thanks! |

I'm no anatomy expert, or colour theorist, but I can tell you with quite alot of sincerity that I find that impressive.
Nice job, and 'bump' to the top, in case peeps missed it.. c'mon, it's worth followin the link.
< Just had a weird feeling of deja-vu.. is this a repost, or have the forums dodged up? I know I replied to this earlier, and so had someone else >- \ >

Very nice.
I really dig the comic styling.
The only crit I can find (And it's a rather small one.) is that the thumb on her left hand looks twisted and her thumbnail looks misplaced. Other than that, I can't find anything I don't like about it.
BTW~ I love the way you handled the cloth. All the wraps and folds are very well rendered.
Again great work. I'd love to see more.

The picture is beautiful. The only flaw i see is that either her hair isn't highlighted correctly near the neck, or her neck is way to small. If the hair is covering the neck, i think that ther should be some red highlights there to show that its next to her neck or something.
please post here more!

eVIL: Yep I guess since I posted it to lumental for him I assumed he needed it posted here as well...but he'd already posted it!!! Do'h!! Oh, well. I'll pay more attention next time.
Anticz: Merry xmas to you too mike. I miss the west coast, and you and everybody else too. I hope to see you in the new year, or maybe at E3....
CapnPyro: Yep. I'm at Crossgen! Decided to delve back into the huddled world of comic books, and make 3D a hobby for a bit. I seem to be absorbing more now that I'm not in the middle of production. I hope to be posting more of my own stuff soon.
The rest: Follow the link posted by evilasmo!!
Thanks people! |
