(sorry for the small size but that's the size it is on my site and i don't want to upload 6 different versions everytime i paint.)

hey do you ever draw anything other than half-naked women, usually in bondage stuff? don't take this as an insult in any way, thats not how its intended. its just that looking though your portfolio, your art seems very linear. i'd like to see you play around with some new stuff... draw a guy... draw a girl in a different type of outfit... put a background in... shit, loose the people completely and draw a landscape, or an animal, or an alien...
just a suggestion |

lol, victor! You've gotta great looking ass there!
Hey hey! Nice bum! It looks very nice, Fallen. Great job on the cool light reflecting off the floor.
On my first glance, the profile of the face seems a little strange. But I'm looking at it really hard now and I can't pick out what it could be. I think it might be that the profile of her forehead, nose, lips and chin is too straight. It might just be different from my habits of drawing faces, though.
geoman2k - Depends if you want to be a jack-of-all-trades or a specialist, I suppose. I kind of agree with you there. You'll gain a lot more from feedback if you post different types of subject matter. |

Every piece you do fallen is very well done. For myself I don't find the interesting at all however. Your technique is good, very good, but I'd like to see you experiment. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying change your style or even your subject matter. But how about a composition other than the girl always placed right in the middle of the piece? How about a piece of sequencial art that tells a small story, comic-book or storyboard esque.
take it or leave it,

Good stuff brotha.
I really like the background in this one, hints of a reflective surface like marble or glass or something.
As far as everyone saying that Fallen should "branch out" with his work~
That's all fine and good if that's what he wants to do with his art. I can't speak for the man, but I think he's trying to focus on pin-up art at the moment. I think that's very obvious by his web site and by what he paints. I don't think it's anyone's place to tell him he should paint a different subject matter. I've been hearing this comment here and there lately too. "Why do you always paint pin-ups?"
I don't know about Fallen, but since I've started painting pin-ups almost exclusively...I've gotten more slandering/criticism/ridicule than with any other art work I've ever done. Wether it be because of the subject matter being a nude woman, or because of the use of photo reference, or whatever. It seems to be a very sensitive subject for some folks.
I don't know why. It obviously doesn't bother me.
Fallen~ I say paint what ever you want. You're doing great work and by focusing on the same subject matter you'll only master it sooner. And where's the harm in that?
By the way folks, BIG companies pay BIG money for pin-up art. Wether it be to sell a product in a magazine, or as fine art in it's own right, it's a very sought after art form. Don't down pin-up art or think less of it than other types of art. I'm sure some of your dads fondest memories come from looking at an old Elvgren or Vargas pin-up. I could go on about how pin-up art and how it's just as much a part of American art history as say....Rockwell's works. But, I've babbled long enough here.
In closing~ I'd like to say that this is a nice piece Fallen.
My intention is NOT to start a discussion here. So please everyone, focus on Fallen's post.
Man, I love pin-up art.

lol, Jez.
I really, really like this Fallen. I really like the colour scheme. I love pretty much everything you do, but I much prefer "happier" moods in your work than the darker, more gothic type stuff.
You really are quite talented.
I also want to say that I agree 100% with what Malachi said. It seems to me that Fallen has found his style, and found a subject matter that he is comfortable working with. This isn't to say he isn't capable of anything else, just that he gets the most satisfaction from doing pin-up type work. And why not? He almost achieves perfection with each piece. If I could paint something that came across as confident as Fallen's stuff, I'd be painting it the majority of the time as well.
Cheers! |

FireFry - Thanx. No detail shots cause frankly im too lazy to upload a bunch of shit.
Icannon - Thanx, it was fun to do.
geoman2k - Yes, that's all i do all day long is whatever artwork is asked of me to do, when I get home it becomes just for me..Pin-up is what I love thus what I paint.
Highfive - She has a flat face. She just had a nose job though, which i didnt think she needed. Anyway, it was hard to do as it was pissing me off for a while there too.
Poxin - Thanx
Jucas - Read 2 above.
Malachi Maloney - Thanx dude.
Duncan - I noticed that as soon as I had just finished it and put my sig on. I went back and looked at the ref and they were fairly thin there too...i couldn't figure it out for a few minutes but then I realized it must be because she was on the floor and i was standing when I took the pic so maybe its a perspective deal. I dunnno.
t4fF - Thanx.
Jezebel - Hehe..it's not the same with pants...party pooper.
Corn Pops - Cheers.
Thanx for the feedback all. |

Hi Fallen,
I'm a big fan.
She is beautiful. But, you've made an error
most men make without "live" models.
Her body is "out of allignment".
No ones body bends this way. (get a model
and you'll see how "off" her tummy, fanny,
and legs are.
Great everything else. |

Fallen what kind of reference do you use in general?
photograph, live models, animal crackers?
if photo, do you have a reference or two for this one that we could see? |

Quasar - Sicko
catnip - Actually this was a "live" model. I have had many comments about her physique before on this forum including the fact that her ...ahem..*buttcrack*, doesn't go high enough on her body. Shes strangely built but exhaustingly beautiful none-the-less.
Mr. Lonely - Sorry dude. Imagination is your friend.
B - I take photos first cause I don't think any model in this world could hold a pose for as long as I take to paint. As far as posting my ref pic, I learned a long time ago on this forum not to do that as I get attacked as an "overpainter/photosmudger" even after I posted my steps. So now I just don't do it to avoid needless drama.
gseegert - Yes i do....and Thanx.
EDIT- Ima goud spelllor.

This is great work as always.
I find it unbelievable that anyone who is an artist or familar with the art world (and I am assuming that anyone who visits here is) can be so bold as to tell another artist to change his style. Come on, you have to just know that is wrong. It's not the same thing as constructive criticism. Art is an expression, and I think Fallen expresses himself, his style, and his views on sexuality very well. Who are we to tell him to change that!?? |
