Hey dude,
I actually like the way the drawing is.. I think the unfinished background gives it a neat kind of feel.. Personally, I think you need more contrast with the shading and - this one is personal, but I'd loose the face in the crystal ball.
Anyway, I really like the idea of having the background unfinished, makes it look like the girl is really absorbed by the crystal ball and the reality around her is fading away.. This could lead to something good. Keep 'em posting! |

Thanks ... i've noticed you're a photographer and i guess that the main problem with my drawing is the lack of shading ... i encounter this problem when i use reference photos (in this pic - the woman) which were shot with a flash. the white light of the flash erase any trace of the real light source.
i believe there are two solutions for this problem:
a. try to decide the light sources myself and use the ref just for the shape and try to imagine my own light souces.
b. make the ref photo myself with a digital camera and organzie the lighting to be more interesting.
i have more self criticism but i'd leave that aside for a while.
