I am looking for words of wisdom about art and design. Popular saying that people have said, or phrases that really get to you when you read them. I need this for a design assignment.
If there are any websites out there that provide words of wisdom can you please post them for me?
Please help.
Thanks |

Its not specifically about art, and its got profanity:
"It's pretty common for pussies, dumbasses, and their families to blame their problems on vague influences like the media and society. The truth is, fuck you." - Seanbaby
The only quotes I really collect are usually on the topics of censorship and freedom . . . issues that, while not pivotal to every artist, will manifest in things that happen to just about any creative person at some point. |

This one doesn't apply directly to art, but... It's been up on the section of the chalkboard called "weekly words of wisdom" for a few months now:
"Wise people use the bricks people throw at them." |

Someone posted a Stan Lee quote once, it was something like "You have to learn the rules before you can break them." |

How 'bout this:
"You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club."
-Jack London
I'll try to find the site I found it on.

That's a good one, Pat
Optima: Have you read Andrew Loomis's figure sketching book? I just found it recently and think the opening & closing words very inspirational. See if you could find that book. |
