I desperately need crits. I feel like i'm not developing and don't know what to do. Just haven't had time to do these things. Maybe I too hastily posted some of these, but i consider them finished as i don't want to continue with them.

Thanks..

Um to me they don't looked very finished? About how long did you usually spend on drawing? It looks like u scan your drawing in and then try to paint them with photoshop? well for all of them I just suggest more time invested, definately more shading. You said there finished becuase you don't want continue with them.. is this becuase u don't like where there going or are u just not interested in what your drawing?

Aiko and anyone who looks this post. Most of these are quickies 30-45 mins. Only 2 and 3 are scanned from pencil sketches, others are done in PS from scratch. I don't continue them mostly because I feel they are not going to anywhere, going to improve and have no future at all. Shading and shadows are a problem, as interesting subjects. Viewpoints bug me a lot and my crappy perspective. I should do more cubes and basic lighting, but when I'm on it, just can't help myself doing these instead of cubes.. Just want bit of feedback and tips to continue with my experiments. When the pic sucks from the beginning it just can't improve much even how much spending hours on it.

Thx
- Mika

added this, while on it..
it winter outside. not happy with it, resizing sucks. have to keep in mind for later works..

You know, in many ways art is quite straight forward - by this I mean just keep at it and you will get better. It's quite encouraging how there is a linear relationship between effort and payoff.

You have to gain experience with lighting and eyeballing perspective, etc...don't worry too much about how many crits you get, concentrante on doing as much work as you have time for.

Overall, you should spend more time observing real lighting and perspective situations. Why don't you try drawing from photos of tanks etc for a while, before you tackle your own designs...

"patience grasshopper" - and keep up the good work

I like these. You've got a few different subjects, you're experimenting with different styles and types of drawing... very encouraging. There may be one or two errors, but don't let those worry you; everyone finds stuff about their own artwork that they don't like, you will even when you're ten times better. The good thing with perspective errors is that they're *somewhat* easy to fix; at least you've got a better idea of a difinitive right and wrong.

You seem eager to learn, you're open to trying new methods and subjects, and you've identified what it is you like and dislike about your art. Sounds like a pretty good recipe for success to me. Now, all you have to do is practice.

(I know, I know, that's the most frustrating thing in the world to hear, because you can't change one thing and make your drawing(s) look immediately better. There's a good reason why everybody suggests that practice is the only way to get good, though...)

I't looks as though you have a good imagination, I have the same probs, i see what i want to draw in my head, but when it comes to expressing it as art, it's not easy. The only way to build on these pics is by doing what most of us do, experiment until your happy, doesn't happen over night, but it will happen.

Randis: Where i am from? In location or as occupied. I was born in Espoo(right next to Helsinki if that helps), Finland and still i'm here. Doing nothing particular (except studying, trying to get to study industrial design and working) and trying to hit freelance with cg (done occasionally storyboard or two for commercials). I feel like i'm in tar, and i can't get out.
