Hi, guys, this is my first pic finally completed! I really dig the weapons and outfits in all the Blizzard fantasy-style games and wanted to draw up some of my own.

Anyone ever Golden Axe II on the arcades? The scots shield is inspired by Death Adder's at the end of that game.

Yeah, I guess there's nothing in there to give a sense of scale, apart from the door. I wanted the girl to have the normal height and the scot to be much taller.

I like it. The characters are cool, and I like the scale, oddly enough. Good coloring job.

But, I know you'll hate this idea, I think you should throw out some of the black lines. And the ones you keep should be a bit more substancial...bolder. Also, I can see where the light comes from, but it should be more intense: with light and dark on the internal of the characters; don't be afraid to completely block out some areas with dark shapes.

The style has a lot of potential.

Awsome coloring, and the shield indeed kicks some serious ass ...

But i don't like the halo around the guys shoulders and head and his feet seem to small to me ...

You might want to make the tips of her staff glow like his axe and shield... it would bring them more together. Nice veins as well... I like!

There's been quite a few crits about lines and I think the face in the shield has been done without excessive lineart, so maybe you should try to take influence from the style used in the shield next time to get less "line-oriented" image. I hope you follow, too tired to express myself any clearer..

Umm, one more thing, are you sure their sex life is ok...

Everyone - You're all right about the linework and how it doesn't need to be there. I guess it's a habit from drawing comics so long. I'm working on another piece without the linework ATM and it's pretty hard!

Siftland and Halogenic - thanks for your informative crits. The lighting on the characters is a little pale because I was taking the skin tones from photos. Stronger shadows would make the scene appear more dramatic. The halo was to make the scot and his axe stand out more from the background. It's a little hastefully done, and the hilites should be worked more into the textures.

Quasar and ArcanE - glad you like it!

Jabberwocky - I wasn't sure if making the staff tips glow would confuse the scene. It's worth a go though.

Seraphire - I think L'surtias a bit of the old Flametrail herself

laslauk - *chuckle* Thornloth and L'surtia haven't expressed any feelings towards each other as yet, but Thornloth has been wearing trousers under his kilt for reasons other than keeping his legs warm...

Yes a very solid peice indeed.

As other have mentioned, removal of the black lines whould do tons for the depth in the image i think. And also the halo on the scot just looks plain odd, I don't like it.
And finaly the shadow thing, make shadows more intense, darker. I think you should darken the axe and other parts that should be more in the background to get some depth in the image.

Well enough crits for now. Good job overall! Dig the sheild!!

She a firewall sorc or Frozen orb?

Props are deserved as the first thing I thought upon viewing, without reading was Diablo 2.
I agree with such levels of texture and rendering, the black lines are just creating visual blocks. They don't need to be everywhere. Might be best to leave them in a few places.

Ah, I remember that one I used to buy the trading cards of some of his work as well as some boris and a few other artists. Which reminds me, I still have them somewhere I should try and dig them up.

The guy with the axe reminds me a little of that undercover cop in The Fast and the Furious. I think it's the eyes, mainly.

Luis Royo's work rocks! That's the first painting of his I've seen with a guy in it, too
