K, I did a search on Digicam, and read all the stuff about it here on the forum, but perhaps I can get some more info on it.
Currently, I have no working camera to use at my house. I'd have to say that we (my siblings and I) have been quite reckless with them before. For example, my brother went to New York once, and borrowed the family camera, but it got stolen. Last year, I took a school trip to Washington, and borrowed my dead uncle's camera from my dad. I was at the Capital Hill building, and it slipped from my hands and fell on the stairs. Capital Hill broke my dead uncle's camera. Now, all that my dad has left is his Canon SLR camera that he bought in 1970. Not something I want to toy around with.
So here comes my story. Im thinknig of getting a digicam, perferrably the Olympus D460Z. I am looking for a camera that would be great for everyday use, closeups, panorama, dark, light, but also not too steep on the price since I am a highschool student. I am not very fond of bulky products, as I would like to carry a camera around for unexpected moments.
I know in previous threads, people were saying Shizo (i think), to get a 3.0 megapixel camera. Obivously, I don't think I'd need to get one that high. 1.3 isn't too high these days, but that should suffice in taking normal pics right? What are your comments and thoughts? Anyone have any pros/cons to the Olympus D460Z? Which digicam do you have, and how well does it perform?

I don't know about your Olympus, I haven't looked it up, but I have the Sony QV-3EX, it's a 3.3 Mega pixel. It's an expensive one, I bought it for 750 us dollars, its not the kind of camera youll throw on the stairs, if it falls from the 10th floor, I promise you, youll jump after it.
Anyways, its a very good camera with a 340 Mb Micro Drive, so you can take up to 2000 images good quality, and around 300 images very high res.
It takes macros, but it isnt very good when the light is dim.
Id says 1.3 mega pixel is too low. I wont says youll be throwing your money, but it better if you get a good one oncen for all.

We have a Canon PowerShot G2 or something like that. It's really good, as far as I can tell. I'm no critic, though. Dunno about cost either. Here're some pics my dad took with it (some might actually be with a different camera, I'm not sure): www.pbase.com/rheumerj

It's got flash and whatnot, but dad also has about a million different accessories, including other flashes etc. I prefer normal cameras, personally (not digital).

My sister's the one with the Glad QuickWrap thing on her head. The blue thing.

I got Canon S-30 after a long research.

Pro:
Compact
3.1M res JPEG/RAW
30 sec 320x240 @15fps video clips
supports CFII (you want Compact Flash only, all other cards are poop)
metal case
most features from G2 expept obvious limitations due to size
nice price - around $500

Con:
battery lasts for about 100 shots, ~2 times less than G2
